Amanda Runs on Dunkin'

4.11.2013

(First things first: Happy Sweet Sixteen to my little sister! Love you, sis!)

You may or may not know this about me, but I have an addiction to the following establishments: Dunkin' Donuts and Dairy Queen.

It's lucky for me I don't live close to either; otherwise I would have a serious problem on my hands that starts with 600 and ends with pounds.

Dairy Queen and I have always been good friends, but my love affair for Dunkin' Donuts really got going in high school, when they used to pass around a box of munchkin holes during student council meetings. That delicious cardboard box full of 100 pieces of round chocolate and powdered goodness would come down the row, and I would shove as many as I could into my mouth like a chipmunk on crack. Powdered sugar everywhere.

Then I got wise and started bringing a plastic bag with me to student council meetings, which I would fill up with donut holes then tuck away in my bookbag for a mid-morning snack.

The donut holes were the single reason I signed up for student council sophomore, junior, and senior year. Well, that and my goal to get in as many pictures in the yearbook as possible. (Which I succeeded in, since I was editor of the yearbook and added lots of pictures of yours truly.)

You can, therefore, imagine my extreme joy when I stepped off the airplane into the Saint Louis airport last Thursday morning and came face-to-face with a Dunkin' Donuts. My eyes immediately grew ten sizes, and I almost took down an old lady in my beeline toward the magical pink and orange.

Approximately four and a half minutes later, I had powdered sugar all over my face, and I was having the following text exchange with Jordan:

And I know I exaggerate sometimes on here, so just in case you don't believe me, I took a picture of my receipt:

Best five dollars and twenty-three cents I ever spent.
You can believe that.

That sprinkled donut looks delicious! I love DD's iced coffees. I've been really good about just getting coffee while I'm there but now I'll have to treat myself!

Doughnuts are one of my biggest weaknesses. My school gets them every Friday morning for all of the teachers, and I can never stay away. It's a problem...

Dunkin Donuts is practically in my neighborhood - it's 2 minutes away. It's dangerous.

Oh my gosh I love donuts too! I could eat them all day, so delicious. Although we do not have a Dunkin Donuts here in Norman, we do have a 24 Hour Donut King!! It is frequented often at 1am when I am in need of a donut! Also, Dairy Queen is not existent in Oklahoma! They are everywhere in Minnesota, but Braum's has taken its place here. I miss Oreo Blizzards so much!

I'm totally jealous. We don't have Dunkin' in CA. I have only ever had it when I lived in New York for a summer. SOO good!
