Blog Every Day in May Prompt Day 14 | 10 Things That Make You Really Happy

Here's 1 thing making me very happy today:
My Anniversary

Dear Amanda,

You just got married.

You're dancing with your friends and eating your vanilla cupcakes (good choice on that, by the way), and it's perfect.

Your honeymoon is going to be lots of fun. Just make sure you eat something before you get in the car for the seven-hour drive to Fredericksburg, because you won't pass any fast food restaurants in the middle of Texas country, and you and Jordan are going to get hungry and grouchy and have your first official married fight right around lunchtime.

Don't worry, though, you'll make it there and back just fine.

Then the real fun starts, because you're going to live with a boy.

You're going to live in that apartment for at least 3 years, so settle in. I know you want to buy a house, and it's going to be hard to watch all your friends buy houses and fill them with new furniture and get to paint the walls. But just be patient. At least your downstairs neighbors are nice, even if they do think Jordan's name is Justin.

It's not going to be easy being married. Jordan's going to do things that annoy you, but here's some news: you're not such a treat either sometimes.

Oh you don't believe me? Well, you'll see.

Sometimes you're going to go to bed angry with each other even though everyone says not to. But it's going to be okay; you just need a little space, and in the morning you'll wake up with a new perspective that makes whatever you were mad about seem silly.
You're going to lose your job in two years, so appreciate it while you have it. And Jordan is really supportive about it even though you feel like a loser.

In two years, you'll love him even more than you do now. You're rolling your eyes at me, but it's true. He's a hard worker and a reliable, trustworthy husband, and he loves you a lot. More than you realize sometimes.

He's not going to pick up his clothes or help with the dishes very much, and he hates doing laundry. But he'll tell you he loves you fifteen times a day and give you kisses just because. And he'll be happy to help if you ask, so don't be stubborn about it.
He'll take care of you when you get sick and wake up early to cheer you on when you run your first marathon. And you'll cook him fish for dinner even though you don't like it and watch his softball games and take him to the doctor when his allergies get out of control.

It's going to be hard, but it's also going to be the most fun you've ever had in your life.

Are you ready?
Get set.
Go.

Love,
Yourself in 2 years

YAY!!! Happy anniversary!! How exciting. I love the pictures... all of them. You are so so so pretty and you two make quite a handsome pair :) I love that letter. It speaks the truth of marriage... that good, bad, and funny. Going to bed angry just has to happen sometimes, but yes, the morning is always, always better!! Lovely post, Amanda!!

hahah. This sounds like a letter I would write to my married self but we haven't been married for two years yet... or even one. July come sooner! My husband has the horrible allergies. If we are both hungry and grouchy we get into fights. My husband also does not do anything related to laundry, dishes, cleaning, etc.

Btw I LOVE your hair in these pictures!

I love those photos - and this post!

I totally agree about going to bed angry. Everyone tells you never to do it, but sometimes it's just what we need. We both wake up in the morning, the anger having eased overnight, and appreciate the fresh perspective and desire to say "I'm sorry" and move on. Love that I'm not the only one!

I love cupcakes too (in response to your "I love comments more than I love cupcakes, which is a lot.")

I digress. I loved your letter to yourself. I've been married for 3.5 years and boy do you learn *so* much despite thinking it'll be the same as "before".

Thank you :)
