I Don't Know You, but Let's Be Friends

5.04.2013

Jordan is going to laugh at me when he reads this, but I legitimately love reading blogs. Not all blogs, of course. Some blogs, well, they suck. I won't say which ones.

Boring ones.
With no paragraph breaks.
And tons of misspellings.
I'll stop there before I get myself in trouble.

There are, however, some blogs that are just grand, and when I read them I say to myself, "Self, you should be friends with that person."

Only that's obviously crazy, since we don't live in the same state (or sometimes country, for that matter) and I don't even know their middle name. I think that's a rule, right? You have to know someone's middle name to really be friends with them.

Mine is Ellen. Also the name of Jordan's longtime ex-girlfriend. So THAT was a fun conversation to have with someone you're newly dating. But I digress.

Since I can't actually be friends with them (people whose blogs I read that I don't know), I stalk them by reading and commenting on every single post. And they're like, "Um, can I block this crazy girl from reading my blog?" And I'm like, "No. We're internet friends now."

They don't know it, but I had a friendship necklace made with the names of our blogs on it. I would send them their half, but I don't know their address. Yet.

If you didn't know I was kidding about that, you should just leave now because you will never understand me.

But anyway.

The point is, feel free to stalk me. I'm not afraid of stalkers because, just being honest here, I can probably outrun you. Get it? Because I just ran a marathon last weekend? Yeah. I'm still talking about it. Sorry not sorry.

Grey! My middle name is Grey!! And you just totally made me smile so much, and you made my day even better. Thanks so much! Man, I am glad to read this... it makes me feel better for having felt like YOUR personal stalker the last two weeks or so. I click on every single blog I see under Related Posts. You are amazing every time! :)

Hi! I read your post regularly. I laughed outloud when I read about the no paragraph breaks and mispellings. OMG, that was so on point. Except you forgot to mention no pictures, pictures are so important in order to get to know the person behind the blog. Otherwise it's like trying to get to know someone who constantly has a blurry face like on Cops. My middle name is Arielle. :)

I haven't come across any of these blogs before - and it's my first time to yours. I'm stopping by from the link-up. I find it difficult to read blogs that don't have proper paragraphing too. Or those that are just text heavy. I just can't do it, no matter how much I try! Off to have a look at your picks :)

I love the title of this post. There are so many bloggers out there who I've never met, but know we would totally be friends in real life!

Aleshea said...

I must check these picks out. I agree. There are a few bloggers I want to be friends with.

Sandy said...

Don't know about the middle name, but at least their real first name. You know so many bloggers use names that aren't even connected, though even then you get to feel like you know each other. I've had some blog friends for going on 5 years, some though come and go. I love blogs, I love writing and reading them.

I also dislike the one run on paragraph with sentences that start with lower case letters and wonder when people that was ok...it's hard on your eyes number 1 and you really can't tell when to breath or keep reading it just goes on and on and well...you get the point.

I'll let the stalking commence as I go through your posts and get to know the REAL you, i.e.. the you that you show online which could be the total opposite of who you actually are but will be the person I am besties with. Sound good?! ;) And I'll check out those blogs. Because I trust you now. You wouldn't lie.

I am behind on my blog-reading and I am just now seeing this post! Thank you SO much for your kind words about my blog. I say them better than you?? Psssh. I don't know about that...but I am honored. :) Also, I am so glad you and Melinda found each other! What a perfect match (in a not creepy way). Kinda wish I had thought of it...why didn't I?? Anyway, thank you, again, Amanda!

Just wanted to say hi, wish you the best, and let you know I'll be following you. ;) Are we friends yet?

It's Louise. I went to one official drinking party in high school where I didn't drink and told a guy high on pot that my middle name was Rose.

I'm really relieved that you're not afraid of blog stalkers.

I just found your blog and I'm so excited! I'm an Okie born and raised! I went to OU and lived in the OKC area for several years before I got married. I married an Air Force pilot so we've moved around, but we're back in Oklahoma for the next three years. I'm excited to follow you! Have a great day!

I think this is the beginning of a beautiful (blog-world) friendship. To quote Rick. Or at least that's what Rick would have said if the it would have been today and not during WWII.

Reasons we should be friends:
1. I too prefer well written blogs.
2. I'm obsessive about reading & commenting on the well written blogs I read.
3. I love cupcakes (duh).
4. Anne of Green Gables is one of my favs.
5. My middle name is Joan.
6. I went to college at Oklahoma State and therefore have a soft spot in my heart for transplant Okie's.

Oooh cupcakes! What? The comment form is talking about cupcakes. I like your sense of humor. I use LOL way too much when blogging or facebooking. I found your blog from Jena of Recently Roached.

This post literally made me laugh out loud! There are blogs I read and think the same thing - that the blogger and I would be great friends - and then others I read and think that, while I enjoy reading their blog, in real life I'm pretty sure the blogger would get on my every nerve. You fall in the first category. Let the commenting on every post begin. Also, my middle name's Michelle.

Okay, I just found your blog but I think we will be friends. I was laughing at loud reading this :) So, nice to meet you (hopefully) new blog friend!

I have been reading your blog for a while now and I absolutely love it. The story about your grandpa's tie literally made me laugh out loud alone in my room. I'm pretty new to this whole blogging thing but I hope my blog becomes something people enjoy reading as much as they enjoy reading yours.

My middle name is Joan! Let's be friends! You know... when I finally get my blog set up. Some time in the near future... when I'm all grown up...

*sigh*

Is it legal for Americans and Canadians to be friends?

You are hilarious! Yes, let's be friends! Middle name is Anne. I teach school; I never go off duty from grammar patrol, though I am sometimes guilty of hitting 'publish' when too sleepy to do a proper proofing of my post. Oops. And I stalk people too. People FASCINATE me. Isn't it supposed to be that way?! I mean really, God gave all of us a story to live and share, and He wants us in community, so why not?!

I guess commenting on this post two years later is almost stalking, right?

I found your blog via Jenna at Gold & Bloom. Congrats on the little one, can't wait to read more :)
