What's in My Bag?

7.09.2014

I'm linking up with Kiki today for a peek into my purse. Not that I have anything interesting in there, but I guess now you can decide for yourself.

I love my Vera Bradley purse because it has a ton of pockets, as will be evidenced by the photos below when I show you the Mary Poppins-like number of things I have in my bag. Seriously. Watch this.

1. Pouch: A present I was sent a few months ago by Samantha from her Etsy shop! See photo below for what I keep in the pouch.
2. Ann Taylor sunglasses + case. I got my sunglasses and case for Christmas from my mom at least three years ago, maybe more. If I lost them, I would cry.
3. Fossil wallet I bought from the outlet mall for $18! Holler.
4. Cell phone
5. Small Vera Bradley case that holds all my business cards and gift cards. Super handy.
6. Keys. Obviously. Although actually I keep these on the hanger next to the door not in my purse.

Now for the side pockets...

Pens. I collect them apparently. Plus a pencil so I can keep it real old school.
Floss. Because my teeth are giant caverns of food.
Hand sanitizer. It's just a good idea.

For someone who doesn't wear a lot of makeup, this collection of lip gloss and chapstick is slightly embarrassing.

Finally, I keep this pack of index cards in a side pocket. I'm not as good about this as I should be, but sometimes when I take a walk break during the work day or while I'm sitting in the car I flip through these and practice my verses.

So that's all I've got!
Click below if you want to link up or see what other bloggers have in their bags.

Anyone else want to admit to having TEN tubes of some kind of lip goop in their purse? It can't be just me.

I am so with you on the lip gloss hoard!! I counted a few months back and I have over 22 in my purse!!! Yes, I know it's a problem. Your purse is at least well organized!

oh this is fantastic that is SOO much stuff! well done you! The lip gloss is hilarious!!! Fun to look in your bag - linking up from In It's Time!

My favorite part about this post is the reminder that I'm not the last person on earth with a non-smartphone. I used to have quite the pen collection, too, until I got fed up with all the purse clutter and whittled it down to one. So of course, the next time I need a pen, the one I kept in my purse wrote two letters before promptly dying. Guess I learned my lesson!

Leelee said...

Yay for phones that just call and text people. I don't want to upgrade my phone because I don't want a smart phone and the huge bill that comes with a data plan.

Miriam said...

Your non-smartphone makes me happy! That combined with the pencil reminds me of old, simpler times. ;-)
I love that your purse has such a pretty pattern inside, it's a nice little surprise just for you! And now for us, too. Whimsical!

The lipgloss collection in your purse looks like mine! I don't know how so many ends up there, but every time I'm looking for one it's always at the bottom of my bag!

Allie @ Everyday Adventures said...

That is a crazy amount of lip gloss! I'm trying to remember what all lip products I have in my purse, and I know I've got one chapstick and… probably four lipsticks. The ones I wear all the time anyway.

Kate said...

I try SO hard to limit myself to 2-3 lipgloss/chapsticks that are IN my purse. But I'd be completely lying if I didn't say that I have an Vera Bradley wrislet that I keep ALL of my lipsticks/glosses/etc that I keep on my desk at work. It's almost full, but I can't stop myself from trying new ones!

i love posts like these! :) your bag is my favorite vera bradley pattern! & i have that same clutch from Elah Tree!! :) i keep pens & a notepad in it cause you always gotta be prepared to write something! :)

your ghetto fabulous non smart phone made me laugh :)

Love seeing into people's purses! Wow, that sounded a lot less creepy before I typed it, but ya know whatever. I love that you keep memory verses in your purse, that's awesome! :)

I have a flip phone!! Now I don't feel so bad. :)

So I now want a small little thing you hold your gift cards in! & love the big packet to put in your purse.
I have so many chapsticks myself & I start out with a bunch of pens & end up loosing them all.
They make those little books that are small you can use for scripture. I do that because I had a thing like yours but the wire got snagged on everything.

Our phones are almost identical! Except mine says at&t. It's rare to find someone without a smart phone these days. I'm pretty proud to say I only carry one chapstick with me...of course that doesn't describe the state of my makeup drawer...

Beka @ Sunshine to the Square Inch said...

Get this! I always wondered how you texted without a smart phone? And then I was like "DUH! Beka! Smart phones haven't been around forever and you used to have old flip phones and you can text from the numbers." I'm losing it!

Korea has forever changed me with purses. I carry teeny tiny purses most of the time. Like my purse is smaller than the bag Samantha sent you =). Every blue moon I carry a normal size purse but not often because I got rid of them.

I want #5!

Also why doesn't your purse have little bits of garbage- receipts, gum wrappers, pen lids- like mine does. One of my daily frustrations is how much baggage I carry around! PUN INTENDED! :)

I had EIGHT lip glosses :D

Your bag seems pretty organized! I'm impressed! And don't worry...I have an entire {somewhat large} pouch dedicated to lip glosses/chapsticks. And it just so happens today that I'm currently carrying a purse within a purse bc I haven't had time to take the things out of the clutch I carried this weekend...much easier to just throw the clutch in the big bag! :)

Victoria said...

So organized!!! I love your wallet. And your phone (I'd have a non smart phone if it was up to me!). And that you keep your memory verses in that spiral bound index card thingy. :)

LisaMD said...

I have to constantly change purses because I will start to just throw everything and anything in my bag and the only way i'll clean it is when my shoulder feels like it's going to fall off. I like the different pouch ideas though ! That might come in handy. Thanks for the idea :)

Caroline @ In Due Time said...

1. Jealous of your gum ( i just gave up gum) 2. LOVE all your lipsticks/glosses - you can never be too excessive 3. Love your memory verses. I tried writing the on cards for ever, but just use an app now :)

Unknown said...

a.) I love that I know what's in your bag now! b.) I'm so glad you like your pouch! c.) I used to have a somewhat similar problem with chapstick and lip gloss. I have narrowed down whats in my bag to three or four... i think. Lastly, everyone has me feeling like I don't' carry enough stuff in my bag. I definitely need all the things!

Teresa said...

you know, I also don't wear a lot of makeup, but I have four different lip products in my bag. haha. and little Vera Bradley pouches are perfect for all of those loyalty cards and such!

The Hungry Goat said...

Mary Poppins purses for the win (also, alliteration ftw)! I'm actually doing this soon too! While I have to admit that every time you post something, I feel like we're soul mates, I only have four lip sticks and two chap sticks in my purse so you definitely win that round.

Unknown said...

You forgot to mention the hole in your purse in which your keys like to hide.

Mary said...

I'm also a collector of pens...and pencils...board pens make it into my bag too... and scissors!
When I went to watch the Olympics in 2012 I got stopped at the security gate and asked to remove the scissors from my bag. This happened not once, not twice but THREE times! My excuse is that I'm a teacher so always prepared!

oh my gosh - that memory verse thing is BRILLIANT! i LOVE IT!

Jenna Griffin | Gold & Bloom said...

Bahaha, your "ghetto fabulous" phone is awesome. I am also guilty of bringing along an entire pouch of lip stuff!

The Lady Okie said...

Oh gosh. Stop bringing that up! So embarrassing. I REALLY DID THINK I LOST THEM.

The Lady Okie said...

Excellent. I love winning things ;)

The Lady Okie said...

Hmm... interesting you ask, because usually it DOES have gum wrappers and such. Maybe I had recently cleaned it out...? Although I do a good job of keeping all my receipts in my wallet. #budgetproblems.
Love the intended pun. Those are the best kind of puns :)

The Lady Okie said...

YES. I mostly don't have a smart phone yet because I'm as cheap as they come. Also, I'm not completely convinced yet that I need the internet with me everywhere I go. Sometimes I like to be alone with my thoughts, ya know?

Love the lip gloss hoarding. Oh how do u choose which one to wear??!!

Kiki said...

Hooray for fellow ghetto phone users! I am wayyy too cheap to use a smartphone right now so instead, I use an iPod for internet and apps. :)

And I love all the pouches you have (and that outlet mall find for you wallet, too!). I also love that you have so many pockets in that purse, too. Pockets and pouches are my best friends.

Also, that's a brilliant idea to carry around memory verses! I need to adopt that idea!

p.s. Thank you so much for linking up! I am so excited that you did!

Holly said...

Your lip gloss collection looks eerily similar to mine--I have an overload in my purse, lol. And I love the pack of memory verses!! Maybe I should do one of these posts. It's fun to see a little more personality shine through blogs like this.

Sarah @ Back to Carolina said...

I am pretty sure I have that much lipgloss, too! I love that pouch for the planner and journal. I need to look into something like that!

Unknown said...

A pack of memory verses is such a good idea! I need to get on that.

Megan said...

Haha I noticed your awesome phone in the first picture. ;) I also have way too much Chapstick! And that cute red notebook from Target.

Aubrey said...

I somehow end up "collecting" pens and chapstick in my bag too! I love your bible verse index pad!! Such a great idea!!!
