The Lady Okie's Closet Confessional [Vlog]

8.27.2014

Hello, friends! Today I'm linking up with Kiki and Jenna for a closet confessional vlog.

Apparently I make vlogs now. It's a thing. I actually made another one this past weekend, but I'm going to wait a few weeks to share it so you don't think I've gone vlog crazy.

Below the video is the list of the questions I answered, and hopefully this will be a fun glimpse into my closet! I apologize for the weird lighting. I'm sitting on the floor next to my closet because I was too lazy to move my clothes aaaaaall the way to the other room. It's a hard life.

I put the times next to the questions in case you get bored and want to skip ahead. NOT THAT YOU WOULD GET BORED*
*You might get bored. I am talking about clothes after all.

I also want to add that there is no dancing at the end of this video. I just didn't want you
to watch all the way to the end and be disappointed. I hate to let down my fans.

1. What's the newest piece in your closet? (0:30)
2. What's the oldest piece in your closet? (1:47)
3. What's the least expensive piece in your closet? (2:28)
4. What's the most expensive piece in your closet? (3:00)
5. What's the biggest bargain in your closet? (3:38)
6. What two items are you loving right now? (5:48)

I just left you a huge comment and then the internet decided to eat it.

The run down: I love colored denim, especially your green ones. Makes me feel like I can get away with wearing jeans at work without breaking any rules. Also, I don't like spending huge bucks on individual pieces of clothes because I feel like my style changes far too frequently. I'll "invest" in my favorite jeans or a blazer I've fallen in love with, but it's still never over $50 max.

Ok I have a confession: I saw your tweet about this linkup last week, I clicked on the link, and spent entirely too much time watching every single vlog in the linkup. Then, in my head, I created an entire imaginary vlog about my own closet. This all happened before I remembered I'm an anonymous blogger and that creating a vlog about my closet would be non-anonymous. So now you know the struggles of an anonymous blogger.

Bathing suit "blow outs" happen (ha ha) and Target is my go to store for new bottoms too. I had never heard of Miss Me jeans, but they are really cute. Sounds like you got a great bargain.

I think this is a really fun vlog topic, and I enjoy watching your vlogs (in a non-creepy, non-stalker kind of way). Ok, bye!

I love this idea! What fun!

Yes Jordan, colored jeans are totally in right now. I'm kind of hoping that I get a pair in my next StitchFix box. I'm willing to spend a little more on clothing if I know it's going to be a staple piece, like black work pants. I wear those probably 3 days a week, so I want them to hold up! But I'm all about getting a deal too.

This is so fun! I like the vlog and it is fun to see into people's closet. I don't think it is creepy to watch everyone's videos if they linked them up for the whole world to see.

Also behind you in the video were those all your scarves???

The Lady Okie said...

Oh my gosh I hate when that happens! So annoying.

So, I kind of think this whole capsule wardrobe thing is a bit extreme, at least for me. I can't remember the last time I spent more than $40/50 on an item of clothing. Some things you buy and you end up loving them way more than you thought, and other things you buy and you don't wear them nearly as much as you thought! So it's just impossible to tell.

The internet also ate two of my comments recently when commenting on your blog . What is happening with the world? :)

You're very vlogogenic, you know. :)
And I want fun running tops too. Mine are boring.

Love your vlog!! I love that you have tshirts from high school - I still wear stuff from high school too :) haha, glad I'm not the only one ;) Loved hearing your voice!

When I was on swim team and our swim suits got worn out, we used the super technical of "die." As in, "My suit is about to die, I need to buy a new one." Just for future reference. ;)

FUN! I need to start looking up others videos to watch too - I'm all about seeing in others closets :)
That running tank is great - I need to keep an eye out at Target now.

You are too funny for words! I'm cracking up over the miss me jeans and the butt shots. Hahaha!

Such a cool post idea! I had no idea MissMe jeans were just a Texas/Oklahoma thing!

One of the reasons why I love your blog is because you're so real and sooooo hilarious. So thank you for the laughs. :) And I'm off to go check out Gap again because I love those green skinny jeans (and the reaction your husband had when you got them--some of my family members feel the same way about colored jeans!).

Thanks for linking up with us!

First, where are you? Are you sitting in your closet? Because if you are that is amazing. Second, I see those Miss Me jeans all the time when I'm in Joplin. Third, I love Platos Closet! I haven't been in a long time because I don't think they are out here, which is sad.

I had to stop the video at least 4 times because I kept thinking about to the "blow outs" and couldn't stop laughing. You are so hilarious, I love you! I also really love those colored jeans!
I'm soooo glad you shared your vlog! I always enjoy watching you and hearing your voice....wow that sounds creepy.

...but I think you know what i mean! :) And..sorry for hitting "publish" too soon. Woopsie!

I watched until the end, even though I was sad there was no dancing, I was hoping you'd use the word blow out again :P Our styles are similar - all about comfy and cute but not expensive!! I always love the volgs :)

The whole part about blowing out your swimsuit bottoms. KILLED ME. LOL.

This makes me want to try a vlog super soon! It was so awesome to listen and see you talk. It made me feel like you were talking to only me ;) ;)

Haha. Despite no dancing at the end (bummer), I am thoroughly entertained by you and this topic. My mommy friend just taught me that "blow out" in baby world means...well, it's gross. So I had to laugh at that one.

I also have never heard of Miss Me jeans! I'm looking them up now. I read a blog post once about how decorative jean butts make your butt look really good.

Jennie said...

This is so amazing. I am doing this!!! Also, loving your blowouts. ;)

The Lady Okie said...

Ha! Yeah... that would have been a better choice of words :)

The Lady Okie said...

Sorry, but no. I am not IN my closet. I am sitting next to my closet on the floor of my bedroom. My closet door is open behind me, and our closet is behind me to my right.

The Lady Okie said...

Totally know what you mean :) I feel the same way!

Such a cute idea!

I know the point of the vlog was to share about your clothing, but what I came away from it all with was, You went to Wheaton North High School?! I attended Wheaton College for my undergraduate degree. Our cross-country team used to run intervals at Northside Park . . . wonder if we ever crossed paths. Small world.

I will let it slide that there was no dancing only because of the blow outs humor.

We have the same philosophy about not spending a ton of money on clothes. I'm a bargain shopper, for sure.

"I will probably keep these bottoms till I have another blow out" hahahahahaha I just about died laughing! And the nurse in me definitely pictured something terrible that i had just seen at work a couple days ago :O also, I hear ya on the capsule wardrobe... To me it seems like a good idea in theory but many the pressure of spending that much money on one item of clothing is just too much for me!

The Hungry Goat said...

It is weird that I could watch these Closet Confessionals all day long? Because I could. And I love those green skinny jeans.

Bailie @ The Hemborg Wife said...

I was the same way about the cheapest thing since I was like ummmm I buy everything on sale!!! I think buying one "perfect" item and spending tons of money on it is just too much pressure.

Christina @ The Murrayed Life said...

I have no idea what this whole closet confessional is all about but I always, always love seeing blogging friends vlogs to get a little more reality to my picture of them. And your hair was down! (you know, in case you couldn't tell. ;) I feel like I always see you with your hair up.

That's about all I got. And you are adorable. In a totally not creepy, platonic blogging friend way.

Kerry @ Till Then Smile Often said...

Blowing out your bathing suit bottom. Bwahaha! I can't believe you actually wore a bridesmaid dress twice. You may be the only person in all the world who has done it.
