Ask Anything Answers: Part 3

3.09.2015

I'm back with more answers to your questions! This time I'm writing out the questions instead of doing a vlog. (Click for vlog 1 and vlog 2.)

1. Did you always want to be an editor?
I answered this question in my "life of an editor" series I did a few months back. For some FAQs about my job and how I got into editing, click for part 1, part 2, and part 3. If you have any other questions, let me know!

2. What are your favorite blogs to read?
A few people asked what my favorite blogs are. I've never really done a post listing any specific favorites because I really do have so many wonderful friends I've met through blogging whose blogs I enjoy so much, and I would feel terrible if anyone felt sad or left out if don't list them. Seriously, there are too many to even pick.

-Beka from Sunshine to the Square Inch was the first blog friend I met in real life! She and I hosted Runners Tell All last year.

-Jenna from Dearest Love hosts a monthly coffee date linkup that is a lot of fun.

-Kiki from In Its Time hosts the monthly linkup The CircleThere are always such fun topics!

But I've talked about them before, so I decided to list a few blog that I haven't linked to or probably mentioned.

-Charlotte from The Midnight Blog
Charlotte is originally from France but now lives in England. I love her minimalistic approach to blogging. No fuss! She has a fascinating job and shares "around town" pictures from Europe so I can live vicariously through her. She also owns a shop where she sells 100% natural fragrance made with organic ingredients.

If we lived closer, Erin is definitely someone I'd like to meet for coffee. She and I have very similar blogging styles, and that's one reason I enjoy her blog so much. She doesn't do sponsorship, she doesn't post every day, and she blogs about real life stuff. She and her husband recently became debt free, which was super exciting!

-Tracy from Tracy Tris
Tracy is my favorite running blogger to follow. She runs a lot (and bikes and swims too!) and blogs mostly about her training, but she's not a crazy runner person like those people who run a bazillion miles and can't talk about anything but running. I always tell her she's the runner I could be if I cared enough to actually put in the effort.

3. What is your favorite book?
You're in luck! You can check out my top ten book of all time right here. Boom. You're welcome.

4. What is your favorite Bible verse?
I honestly don't have just one favorite verse. There are so many that I love and that mean different things to me at different times. However, my favorite chapter is Psalm 27. I memorized it many years ago now, and I find so much hope when I recite it to myself when I need a reminder of God's protection and peace.

5. What is your go-to snack food?
*I asked Jordan just to verify that I'm being accurate with this.

I don't ever sit around snacking on chips or candy bars. If I'm feeling the urge for a little something, I'll turn to one of the following: a spoonful of crunchy peanut butter, a small bowl of honey nut cheerios with milk, an apple (sometimes with crunchy peanut butter), or a small bowl of ice cream. Occasionally I'll bust out a bag of pretzel rods.

6. What is your least favorite household chore?
Anything to do with the bathroom. I cannot emphasize this enough. I'll do anything else, but when it comes to cleaning the bathroom I will procrastinate all day.

I hope you're not tired of this, because I have more questions! Really you have no one to blame but yourself for asking such good questions.

Next time, Jordan will make a guest appearance on another vlog (yay!) to answer a few questions, and I'll also discuss my thoughts on this: How do you determine the boundaries around what you're comfortable sharing about yourself, your family and your friends? Do you have friends who have asked not to be on the blog?
As always, if YOU have a question for me, enter it here. Until next time!

- Oh! Thank you for the mention, Amanda. :) I love discovering new blogs, so thanks for sharing all of these!
- I agree, bathroom cleaning is the worst.
- I can't wait to read your thoughts on that last topic.

I like these posts and I'm glad people asked so many questions!

Thanks for the shoutout and I'm also glad you shared so many other blogs for us to check out.

The bathroom! I don't like it either but two things happen, actually three:
1. I just don't mind cleaning it.
2. I don't want to clean it but alas, there is so much makeup and crap everywhere that I have to clean it.
3. Dave will say "Do you think you could clean the bathroom today? I'll add it to your to do list." ha ah!

Bathrooms in Asia? I will have to do a special post about our bathroom. Like mold is growing in there and it is winning! There is no tub, shower, sink area. It is all just one big room. Also, the floor and half way up the wall is tiled so every three months or so I get a massive bleach bucket and clean the whole thing. It's nasty but I like that it is all tiled because I can hose the whole thing down.

Oh my gosh. So much to comment on.

1. Thank you for linking to Love, Fun, and Football. I really love bloggers that aren't shy about talking personal finance. It's a huge passion and I've written and deleted about 10 posts of my own because I don't want to come off as preachy or braggy or any other negative adjectives. No wonder it's such a taboo topic.

2. Do you know how excited I am that you listed These Happy Golden Years in your list of favorite books? Obviously my Monday is all that thrilling over here. But, I LOVE Laura Ingalls Wilder and I have read her series more times than I can count. I have her biography ordered on Amazon and its taking forever to get here...

3. Like most people, I hate cleaning the bathroom too. Some things that have made it easier? I keep a handled scrubber in the shower - one of those ones that you can fill with stuff in the handle, like for washing dishes?. Anyway, I give the shower a good scrub while I'm IN the shower and it helps keep it clean. I'll do a deep clean of it every other week or so. Also, Clorox wipes. I use them to wipe down everything and it takes no time. Cleaning the bathroom sucks, but these help. We want to move to a place with at least 2 baths and cannot imagine the horror I'll feel once I have TWO bathrooms to keep clean. Sigh.

Great questions. Those are some healthy snacking habits especially with the bevy of Easter candy out there. Cleaning in general is not fun but I agree the bathroom is the worst, well aside from moping the kitchen, not sure why I hate it so much.

Can't wait to check out some of those other blogs!! And YES, any chore having to do with the bathroom is the worst. I wish I had a maid!

Thanks for the shout out! That was definitely a surprise but awesome to read because I always wonder if I come across like a looney toon...I like to think I'm at a normal level of running crazy and not over the top but you never know how other people perceive you, ya know?!
Also, thanks for the reminder that my bathroom desperately needs cleaning haha!

Erin is the best! She keeps it real (as do you) and it's nice to read a blog that talks about real life and relatable things.

I am with you on #6! I HATE it!!

Yes! I really loved her Sallie & Perkins series that she did last year when she and her husband were trying to get rid of their debt.

I LOVE LAURA INGALLS WILDER. I have seriously been wanting to reread that series for a long time, but all the books are at my parents' house! When we finally get a house, those babies are coming to ME.

Keeping a scrubber in the shower is actually a fantastic idea. I wish I had been doing that. Just a few scrubs while you're in there is so great. Thanks for the suggestion!

What in the world? How did I miss this! I even think I was one of the ones who asked that question about your favorite blogs. Just now when I saw my name my heart skipped a beat! Whoo hoo! :) I'm honored to be on your favorites list. So many of the other blogs you mentioned are on mine too! I'm having fun going back and reading through your ask anything posts.
