Project 12 // April

*Project 12: A photo on the first day of every month*

Faithful Place: Eh. It was okay.
The Giver: I liked this one! Super quick read. I think it took me 2 days.
Follow me on Goodreads for reviews and ratings.

We traveled to Texas: April 18-19 to celebrate my sister's 18th birthday.
I still haven't stopped crying about it. My little sister is 4 years old in my mind forever, okay?

Um, so this happened. As if I could forget.

^^^ Someone asked me once if I would rather have the ability to rewind time or pause it. I said pause. I've never wanted to pause time more than when my whole family is together, sitting around the dinner table. It's the best.
^^^ Speaking of my family,  on April 22, my mom drove up so we could go to the Festival of the Arts! It's my favorite week of the year in downtown OKC, and we've gone together for the last four years. I have more pictures from the Arts Festival to share in a post to come!
^^^Another notable event? WE BOUGHT A HOUSE. This is us on the way to our closing.

Yes, the saga of the roof has concluded, and we are officially homeowners! The roofer was actually AT the closing to get a final check from the sellers. Nothing like finishing at the last minute. But at least I can stop being dramatic about the rain, which Jordan is happy about.

This is an answer to a prayer that I have been praying for years now, and I feel so thankful and blessed and also slightly overwhelmed by all the stuff we need to buy. Why are there so many types of washer/dryer combinations?

Also, no, I'm sorry but I'm not posting a picture of our house on the blog. Like, ever. Because, hello internet creepsters. But I'll probably take pics of the inside at some point and show you. Although not right now, because there's literally nothing to see at the moment.

BUT YAY WE HAVE A HOUSE AND IT'S SO AWESOME.
THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE CANNOT DESCRIBE MY EXCITEMENT.
INSERT MULTIPLE EXCLAMATION POINTS.
!

The end.

Coming on the blog in May:
-A look at my pregnancy journal
-An oatmeal cookie recipe
-Pictures from the Festival of the Arts
-Reader survey responses
-Another round of "ask anything" answers

I know a few other awesome blogger friends are doing Project 12 this year (yay!) and so I'll be adding a linkup to my Project 12 posts. This is the lowest of low key linkups. There's not a button or any rules. Just link up if you wrote a Project 12 post!

Hurray for a house! I say smart move on not posting the exterior of the house on the internet. We aren't even buying a house but for the first time we're moving into a completely unfurnished place and so also have to buy all appliances. If I had my way I'd be choosing appliances based on if they are a cool color but some people say that is not the most important thing... ?

Congrats on closing on the house! So exciting! I always wanters to read the Giver I wonder if it's from the movie with the same name. If it is I might have to check it (books are always best). Oh, well. I'm'with you on pausing time. My niece was born this weekend and all I wanted to do was pause time while i was holding her.

CONGRATS on the house!!!! What exciting news :) it's such an awesome experience - though pretty terrifying, too. Hooray! :)

Sounds like you had a great month! I'm so glad everything with the roof worked out in the end, and that you guys are officially homeowners. Congrats!

Words of wisdom shared by my brother: "every home project takes at least 3 trips to Lowe's". Just an FYI so you can anticipate it and not get frustrated. I have found that it is true for us - and sometimes more than 3 trips!

YAY on the house!!! SO awesome!! And I totally agree on pausing during family time. Nothing better in the world that being surrounded by family :) I also read The Giver recently and really enjoyed it. It's actually part of a four part series...did not realize that until a few friends mentioned that a couple of the others in the group are really good, too.

I'M SO EXCITED ABOUT THE HOUSE! YAYAYAYAYAYAYAY. WOOOO! EXCITED!

P.S. I'm bummed you aren't going to post a picture on the internet for the entire world to see because I want to be the creeper who shows up at your door, but I suppose I can forgive you. ;)

SO happy the house/roof craziness is settled and you now OWN IT!!!! :) I know how it feels to be like uh, we need EVERYTHING. We did a ton of Craigs List finds and hand-me-downs for things that weren't "as" important which helped! And I LOVE the Giver, I can't believe you'd never read it! :)

YAY! Congratulations! That is such huge news! I really love the idea of pausing time when you're with your family. Although, I think I'd opt with rewind time, so I could just relive those moments again and again! :)

Oh my gosh so so exciting to be like "were homeowners"!!!!! I can't wait to know that feeling! I still laugh thinking about how someone called the cops on you for being in their field ;) lol!!! What a great few weeks you've had :)

I'm so glad the rain finally stopped and you're officially homeowners!! I get the drama though, when you want something so bad and this ONE thing is getting in the way, it's frustrating!! I can't wait to see the inside! Totally get not taking pictures of the outside haha.

You and me, Kate. We'll figure it out and creep down to OK together.

Not gonna lie, I was super excited to see you in all your pregnant glory in the family picture. Also congrats on the house! I shall pray that you have significantly less mice and snakes than we do.

Yeah, congrats on closing on the house. Looking forward to some inside pics to see how you decorate it. It is so fun being able to paint and decorate and knowing you own it. I bought my house 5 years ago and I still sometimes walk into the kitchen or living room and remind myself that I own it. Such a weird but awesome feeling!

um sooooo.... YOU OWN A HOUSE! Has that sunk in yet? I'm not sure it has for me yet so I just thought I would remind you. Also- I'm totally with you- I would pause time with my family every.single.time. There is just nothing better!

I don't understand when some people post a picture of the FRONT of their house in their blog. Seems like they're asking for an internet stalker to come rob them. But then again, maybe I'm just being paranoid. I mean, that would be pretty crazy if it actually happened.

I have heard that about home projects! The good news is that Jordan works on new houses for a living, so he's VERY familiar with Lowe's.

Actually, funny story that I think this is hilarious... when he has to go to Lowe's during the weekday for something, he's driving his electrician van and wearing his uniform (and by uniform, I mean khaki pants and a gray t-shirt with his company logo on it). He says people stop him in the store ALL THE TIME to ask electrical questions and ask for advice. He even said once someone chased him down in the parking lot while he was driving! Cracks me up.

No, we haven't moved in yet. Our apt lease is up at the end of June, so we're going to take it slow. We want to do some things to it first like shampoo the carpets, paint a room or two, buy a fridge, etc., and then we'll move in!

The Lady Okie said...

YOU WOULD.

OH MY GOSH.
If I see a snake, I will die. The other day, there was a snake on our porch railing at the apartment, and when I saw it I instantly screamed, ran inside, and started sobbing and hyperventilating. I don't do snakes. Like, at all ever.

Yyayay for houses!! Congrats!

I am reading Faithful Place too...it's taking me a while to get into it

Congrats on buying a house!! I love that Texas big sky photo, and great shot of your family all together.

I have been loving browsing through your archives, especially reading your old dating & proposal posts!

Are you planning to read Son, Gathering Blue, and...the fourth one in The Giver series that I can't remember the name of right now? They are all excellent.

Woo hoo! You are home owners!! Congrats again. Such a rewarding purchase. For washer/dryer combos - I do not recommend the stackable ones OR the front load washers. Just a personal preference but I found it so much easier to move the clothes from the washer to the dryer when I had the top loading washer rather than the front loading. First world problems.
