Maternity Pictures (Help me choose a favorite!)

6.23.2015

One thing I find strange on blogs is when a blogger announces that something big is going on in their lives and then publishes their next post without even mentioning anything about it. So, before we get to the pictures, a quick update:

Yes, we moved. Jordan and I almost killed each other on Friday night, and I'm only kind of joking about that. Second option was to burn down our apartment. Third option was to make a Chick-fil-A run at 9:55 at night because we were both in a hangry packing rage and needed dinner. Our mothers are glad we did not choose option 1. Our neighbors are glad we did not choose option 2.

So, yes. We have 95% of our belongings over at the house, thanks to our fabulous friends who brought their trucks and trailers (perks of living in Oklahoma, everyone we know owns a truck) and showed up at 7:30 in the morning on a Saturday. Our fridge is getting delivered soon (hopefully), so we opted to live in our apartment for the week so we could have close access to vital life things such as dairy products and leftovers. AND ICE CREAM.

As of this Saturday, we will officially be done with apartment life! There were times when I thought this day would never come, but it's here and it's awesome, and I am so thankful.

Now for the purpose of this post.... check out our maternity pictures and please leave a comment if you have a favorite! I need to figure out which one(s) to frame.
*All pictures in this post were taken by Carli Wentworth Photography*

I always assumed we would get maternity pictures if and when I got pregnant. I have been taking weekly pictures of the bump, but I really wanted some nice pictures of Jordan and I together with Baby Bum. I almost didn't go through with it because I wasn't sure if it would fit into the budget, but I ended up getting a freelance editing project that paid for it, which was a huge blessing.
I really love how the pictures turned out, and I am so happy we did them. The day of the shoot it was super muggy, cloudy, and the mosquitos were eating. us. alive. I mean seriously. I had a giant bite on my face and at least ten bites on the back of my shoulder and down my arm (not an exaggeration). Gross but worth it!
I really can't decide which one I like the best to frame, so if you have a favorite, please help me narrow it down!

We took these when I was just over 28 weeks, so obviously the bump has grown since then, but I didn't want to wait too long until I was feeling super uncomfortable and swollen. Plus, it has gotten crazy hot in the last few weeks, and I just can't even deal with it. The thermostat is set at 72, and I'm still walking around the apartment in shorts and a tank top. Jordan says it's because I'm currently an incubator.
If you are considering maternity pictures, I really encourage you to do it! This is such a special time, and I will love having these pictures to look back on later.

Outfit details in case you're wondering:
white and purple tanks (Target) / maxi skirt (JCrew Factory) / Sandals (Target)

So which one should I frame? I need help deciding!
Also, did you do or do you want to do maternity pictures?

Love all these, especially the one in front of the gate when you're both looking at each other!

We took our own maternity pictures both times with a tripod and a timer. I'm so glad I have those photos to look back on (and remind me how big my belly was, haha)!

Ice cream is SO VITAL to every day life--I hope you get your fridge soon specifically for that!!!

All these pictures are great! I love the first and last picture of you and Jordan, and I really like the black and white picture of you--the one on the right because it looks so natural and you look so happy!! Glad you were able to afford these pictures :)

I love them all! I didn't do maternity pictures, and I have made my peace with it. It wasn't a thing when I started having kids, but I wish it was!

Kimberley said...

There are so many great pictures here. I wouldn't be able to choose just one.
I am nowhere near having kids (not even a bf) but I totally want to do maternity pcitures if God blesses me in that way.

I'd say #2 or the second to last photo. Beautiful collection of photos!

Robyn B said...

definitely the 4th one from the top! the way that Jordan's nose is smooshed against your face & both of your smiles... such a sweet picture!

Ashley said...

All these are great, but I really like the one with y'all standing in front of the and I love black and white one of y'all sitting in front of the gate.
Also, murder and arson are both illegal... So yeah... ;)

Rach said...

So glad you guys made it into the new house without killing each other!

Also, I love these photos! My favorite of the two of you is photo #5 and my favorite of just you is #6. But they are all so great!

Caroline {Virginia Sweet} said...

in love with the first and last one but I am not sure just how you are going to choose because they are all amazing!! Soooooo love that you have ice cream on your essential list too!! I don't think I could brave this heat without it! xoxo

Unknown said...

These are all great! My favorites are the ones in front of the fence, especially the last one.

Unknown said...

I'm torn between the first one and the second to last one!

Also, hangry will get you! We've had many of those moments.

Sarah @ Sometimes Photojenik said...

Oh my goodness picture that's fourth from the bottom of the post is hands down my favorite! I LOVE it. I'm so that you got that job and made room in your budget because these are such a beautiful memory! Also- yay for moving and being done with apartment life in less than a week- I'm so excited for you!

Amanda said...

Picture 4 and 5 are my favorites, but you really can't go wrong! They're all beautiful :)

Tiffani P said...

I like the fourth up from the bottom too - and I think if you printed 2, you should also do the one below it. It's seldom that we get individual portraits done once we are married/have kids so that one is special - it's "just you" but as baby bum gets older she'll love that it's you and her in your belly.
We got a full set of maternity pics with #1, and ran out of time and $ with #2 (poor second babies) so we took a nice family photo

Tiffani P said...

On Easter and called it a day - WW gets one pic while in my belly... PJ gets like 15 lol. In don't think that maternity photos are a necessity (obviously since we skipped them round too) but they are so nice to have! Don't forget to take some candid ones too - at summer bbq's, on the lake with friends etc. It will help you remember later - baby brain is no joke man. ;)

Love these! The one right under the paragraph ending in "incubator" is my favorite!

Andrea H. said...

Glad the move is pretty much done! That is a huge weight lifted :) The photos are fantastic!! I really like the next to last one you posted where you are both sitting.

Caroline @ In Due Time said...

Glad you survived the move ;) Yay for not killing each other!

Could you be any more gorgeous? I think not! I love them all! LOVE the one of you against the fence and the last black and white one!!!

Brandi said...

These are great! Love the last three, especially the second to last of the two of you. Congrats on the near completion of your move!

Ali said...

Congrats on moving! It is super stressful, and I know my unpleasant side usually comes out when we move. Type A and super bossy - times 10 - that's me!

I love the second one of you guys together, the second B&W one where you're smiling over your shoulder, and the next color shot of the two of you leaning up against the iron fence. But they're all so cute! I can see why you're having a hard time deciding.

Unknown said...

Ok, from the top, I like #2, and then #3 (the right one where you're smiling/laughing). Also, #5 is a great one! So those are my picks! And I think doing maternity pics are a great idea, especially from the kids' perspective! There is only one pic of my mom preggers, and I don't even know which kid she's preggers with in it. I wish there were more!

Moving is the worst thing EVER when its not hot out and when you're NOT carrying a baby. and the biggest test of marriage. So glad its almost over for you, and super excited that you have a HOUSE. Some day :) You look fantastic, so glad you could swing the pictures. I agree exactly with what Holly said. Any would look great :)

Sarah @ Sweet Miles said...

I love the two of you standing against the wrought iron fence! And the one of you turning your head and laughing! Fave 3 for sure! You look beautiful mama!!! Just a few more weeks!! I need to get caught up on your pregnancy, do we know if it's a boy or girl?

Jenn @ Optimization Actually said...

Gorgeous pictures! I can't choose. I'm glad you guys didn't kill each other or burn the apartment down. My sister told me once that the most common contributors to depression (basically the most stressful occasions) are life events. Having a baby and moving are 2 pretty big ones! So handling them both at once and only getting hangry is pretty decent.

Rebecca Jo said...

I like the 4th one down ... the close snuggle, the smiles... love it.
I think you need of your only you as well. Look at all the hard work you're doing growing a human - needs to be documented :)
I'm doing a maternity session next week - I love rubbing baby bumps :)

Kerry @ Till Then Smile Often said...

These came out great! I like the second one, you both looking at the camera. Second favorite is the one he is kissing your temple, well trying to at least. They all came out great though and will be good to look back on later.

Paige @ Reasons to Come Home said...

They are all so good! I think I like the black and white ones the best but seriously, they would all be gorgeous hanging on your wall!

In order of posting: 2, 4 and 5. See I couldn't pick one favorite either. I'm glad discus isn't set up yet. Photo shoots in Oklahoma amuse me because they're always where I live. First deep deuce and now the Paseo. Lastly, I'll be in the Bahamas and more specifically atlantis on paradise island. Do you have any good tips on eating there without spending a million dollars for each meal? I know you're busy, so no rush. We'll be there September. Good luck picking your favorite photo! The more I scroll back and forth, the harder it is to choose a favorite. You can't leave any of them out--must make a collage. You and Jordan look mighty happy. Glad you are all (95%) moved in.

My faves are the one of you leaning against the gate and the one of you two above it. I do like both the black and white ones next to each other, so maybe you could frame them that way? And I think doing it at 28 weeks was BRILLIANT. We had a friend who dabbles in photography do ours for free so we just had to wait til the schedules lined up and I was about 37/38 weeks along and it was August and I was huge and miserable.

Sara Oss said...

These are lovely and you really can't go wrong. But since you asked...If I were printing just one picture I would choose one where either both or neither of you are looking directly at the camera. That way you as a couple are the main focus, rather than just you.

I love the idea of maternity (and engagement) photos but we photograph so, so badly that we didn't/wouldn't do them. Most of the pictures we have framed are candid shots of us that we didn't know were being taken.

I love the 4th from the bottom! Also the B+W ones of just you. They're all such great pics :)

Brittany said...

Umm...each and every one of these is worth a frame. If I had to choose one, I'd say the color one of you two sitting on the ground and looking at each other. So in love and it shows...even if you wanted to kill each other during the move. Glad that's over!

Candace Shiflet said...

i like the last two the best. sooo cute and such a cute bump :)

Love these! I think they were worth the bug bites! ;) My favorite of you alone is the one with you looking away and laughing in b&w. My favorite couple one is the last one. You look great!

Allie @ Everyday Adventures said...

Oh gosh, how to pick a favorite?! I love the ones of just you in black and white, and also pic #2 and #4 with Jordan.

Becky said...

Phew glad everyone survived the move!! That is nice that you know so many people with trucks! I'm not sure what I'll do when I have to move with my mazda3… Gah this is hard to choose a favorite! If you're making me choose I like the BW of you smiling and looking away from the camera and the last one! :P

Laura said...

I really like the 2n one. You three are so cute together. And yay for being done with apartment life!!

Kiki said...

How does one pick a favorite? You're stunning, Amanda and I love each and every single photo; especially the second photo, the last photo, and the fourth one down (of you and Jordan in front of the gate). :)

Unknown said...

They are all stunning! Definitely worth battling the mugginess and the mosquitoes. :)
My favourites are the 4th from the bottom and the last one.

Candid ones really are my favorites. Thanks for the tip! Poor second babies ;)

The Lady Okie said...

Collage is a good idea!

The Lady Okie said...

Thank you! I do like those b&w ones of me too. I don't always feel like I photograph well, but she did a great job!

Katie @ Daily Cup of Kate said...

LOVE these!! My favorite is the second to last and the black and white of you laughing!

Jenna Griffin | Gold & Bloom said...

These are beautiful, Amanda!! I love them all. I'm going to be no help at all and say frame 'em all!!! Really, I love the last one A LOT, though. Also the black and white one of you smiling and looking to the side.

Amy @ A Desert Girl said...

Oh I can't choose a favorite. You can't go wrong ordering any of them (or all of them...). Gorgeous couple and a gorgeous bump!

Amy said...

you. are. so. beautiful!! <3 <3 <3
i love all of them.
and congratulations on moving!

Kristin said...

My favorite is the one at the gate where you're both looking at each other, but they're all beautiful! Congrats on your move - and not killing each other or burning the apartment down. Some days, those things are worthy of a pat on the back and a milkshake.

Carolann said...

I love these! My favorite is the one of you two hugging in front of the gate. You both have this look of pure joy!

The Girl who Loved to Write said...

These are so beautiful! You're so smart to do them at 28 weeks..I've had friends who wait until later and they always regret it!

Allison said...

Congrats on the move! I'm a little jealous, we've been wanting to buy a place for a couple years now but it's just not in the budget yet.

Anyway, all the photos are beautiful, of course, but I love the first photo and all the ones in front of the wrought-iron gate. Maybe get all of those in a collage frame? Gorgeous!

Anonymous said...

I love the black and white one on the right and the first one, but they're all great. Congrats on your big move! We're doing a big furniture "move" this weekend, rearranging things to make room for a baby in our apartment, which will probably be stressful during and a relief after. I'm itching to "nest"! :)

Maria said...

I've been mulling over this since you took the photos yesterday. I have no advice, says the girl who got 15 of her wedding photos printed and have them plastered all over the house (scratch that, Brandon made me pick 5 for our new place. The others are in the attic, presumably crying). I have to say that the black and white ones really stood out of me. You could pair one of them with the last photo of you too.

Gorgeous.

Kayla MKOY said...

Okay your man needs to frame the one on the right of you (in black and white) and I say you frame the rest all over your walls because HOLY GORGEOUS!!!! I love these and am so happy you two made time for this :) so cute!!

Daleian said...

The 4th from the bottom is probably my favorite but I love the black and white ones so much! In fact, they are all so beautiful!
We can really tell you two are so happy! Congratulations! :)

I love the first colored one after the text the bet, but they're all magical!
