Happenings

11.08.2015

Month one of working full time at home is complete, and I have two full months to go! It would be an understatement to say the ability to work at home for these few months has been a huge blessing. I am so, so thankful for this extra time with my little bean. We are truly having so much fun together.

I am still taking her to work with me at least once a week, and so the bathroom selfies are still happening. Someone on Facebook said they couldn't see R at first and thought I was making a pregnancy announcement.

HAHAHA.

No.

But OMG can you even imagine?

In case you forgot where we came from...
Someone stop me. Actually never mind don't. It's funny.

I'll save the rest of this for my month three baby recap (later this week hopefully), but R is just the absolute sweetest baby. My mom told me recently that I'm bound to have a crier next time, because this girl, you guys. She melts my heart.
I've been running pretty consistently lately, which has been great. I've seen a lot of improvement in my times and my overall fitness level, and I really can't take much credit for it. The weather has been amazing lately, and it just makes you want to run. I have no idea what I weigh because we don't have a scale, and I've never cared much about what it says. It's all about how I feel, and right now I feel great! (Insert: I wrote that paragraph last week and now I haven't run all week, so yeah. But I try to take R on a daily walk, and I dusted off my pullup bar again, so there's that.) *Some people asked me what the app is that I'm using for my daily plank. It's called "30 Days" and I got it for free off the app store on the iphone.

I was talking to my mom on the phone a few days ago, and she said, "You sound really, really good." So I don't know if I've been in a bit of funk lately or maybe some postpartum blues or whatever, but I not only have been feeling good physically, I'm more optimistic about this whole daycare situation. I mean, lots of people put their kids in daycare! That's why there are waiting lists six months long--because lots of people work! In the blog world, it sometimes seems like everyone is a stay-at-home mom, but in real life there are so many working moms. Sure, about once a day I am crushed by an overwhelming weight of The Mom Guilt, but otherwise I feel like maybe I can do it after all.

We found a daycare at a church that is on my way to work, so I will be the one dropping her off and picking her up AND since it's fairly close to my work, I plan on going to visit R/feed her during my lunch hour! So that makes me really happy that I will have the chance to see her if I want, and I'm just praying that we will know if she is being taken care of well while we aren't with her.
^^^We took our Christmas card picture and I ordered our cards because yes, I am insane. Don't feel bad. You're not behind; I'm just obsessed with all things pictures. I ordered them from Minted again, because free envelope addressing. Use my referral link >>here<< to get $25 off your first purchase of $50! You're welcome for the sneak peek of our outfits.

And finallyyyyy.... if you didn't have enough pictures of R and I already in this post, here's one more. I got really excited when I finally figured out how to carry R in the Moby wrap! I've tried it a bunch, but it would also slide down after approximately 3 seconds and just never felt very secure, but this time I carried her around for 45 minutes while she took a nap and it was perfect!

These are the things I get excited about now. Mom life and stuff.

Okay, so before I sign off I'll share a quick Jordan story because this post needs some beard.
^^^ Less than amused about our Christmas card photoshoot.

Jordan had a funny moment last week... he told the guys at work he could do 100 pushups, so of course they dared him to do it right then, and of course he tried to because boys. He got to 60 and then said (direct quote), "My triceps broke."

Then later he woke me up in the middle of the night that night complaining about not being able to move his arms and that he was pretty sure his bicep had ripped open.

I told him to go back to sleep and that I did not at all feel bad for him.
Hashtag married life.

The end.

p.s. It's November, which means it's almost Christmas tree time, which means I'm reminding you about one of my favorite family stories from two years ago. You should go read it. Click hereYou're welcome.

Hooray! I'm so glad you have R's daycare situation figured out! Probably once we have #2, I'll do something similar because I really can't ask my sister-in-law to watch two of my kids. Haha. Enjoy these next couple months ♡♡♡

You do sound good! I'm glad to see you're finding a groove. I'm interested to see how the daycare transition goes, we'll be doing that soon enough!

So glad you found a place for R to hang out while you're at work. And bonus that you can visit on your lunch!
I love that you're doing a pull up challenge. You are certainly braver (and stronger) than I. I've been attempting a squat challenge this month. Fun times!

The Christmas tree post...no words. I want to be apart of your family and now I want some cider.

Hooray for church daycare and lunch time visits and cute Christmas cards! And course, that adorable sweet baby :)

I'm so glad you are feeling better and that you are emotions are feeling better about everything too. I'm sure you will have up and down days but hopefully they will be more 'ups' as time goes on.

A day care near your house is a huge huge blessing! How did you hear about that place?

Yay! Yay! Yay for Christmas cards! I'm going to look on minted and if there is a design I like I'm going to use your link. I'm going to tell you about my Christmas card because I told him and he just isn't excited like us girls are ... anyways, I got mini poster boards and for each country we are going to I have a poster for that country with a little picture of their flag and something iconic from their country. Then I'm going to combine them into a collage and put them on our card. I'll send you one. Hopefully they will turn out as good as the image in my head is.

Oh boys and their random displays of athleticism...to the point where they hurt themselves. Just this afternoon Angel made me take a video of him jumping on top of a little pole while we were walking back to our apartment...I don't know why. I posted it on instagram because he's always doing random stuff like make me take photos or videos of him jumping across or over stuff. Is that what the 30s look like? Push-up competitions and proof that you can still jump?

Glad you found a great daycare that's really close by, too! That's a huge huge thing to let someone else take care of your precious baby, and I know you're brave enough to do it, even if it's hard.

Your Christmas Card picture! Could you two be any more beautiful? I think not!!!

Glad you are getting out and running more and feeling better too! I agree SO many moms work!!! I mean all my co-workers have kids, so yes you are not the only one!!!! Glad you found a day-care and will get to see her at lunch too <3

I'm glad to hear your running is going well. I was actually thinking about you yesterday and wondered how it was going. I had surgery last week and won't be able to run for at least 8 weeks, so the fact that your return to running is going well is encouraging to me. Also, I started doing our Christmas cards yesterday. One of the *perks* of major surgery is I'm getting a lot of little (and light) tasks crossed off the to do list.

Yay for finding a great daycare! I'm sure R will do great there, and it will be so good for her! We also ordered our cards already, so either we're both crazy or really on top of things. I prefer the latter. Glad to hear that running is going well, too!

Daycare totally stresses ME out sometimes- but you are so right. People work! Babies go to daycare! It happens all the time, everywhere and everyone turns out okay! :) You are doing great, friend!

GLad you found a daycare and that it is so close. It is hard but yes most women do have to go back. It will be hard but you will get through it. Oh goodness poor Jordan but seriously boys bring it on themselves! Haha!

She is so precious :) And you're not too early on Christmas cards! I'm already working on getting mine together so I can get them out the first of December! So I'm headed straight to Minted with that code - thanks!

He made it to 60?! Oh my gracious, I can't even imagine. Anything more than 20 kind of blows my mind. Let's be real, I haven't done a real push up in such a long time that I don't know if I could even do one. And I'm not going to try because, well, that could make today a depressing day for me, ha!

LOVE your Christmas card outfits! I can't wait to see your official Christmas card photo! I'm checking out your Minted referral link right now, by the way. If they have cards I really love then I'll totally use that. :)

And what a HUGE hooray for finding a daycare you like that is close enough for you to visit over lunch! How awesome!

Kristen @ See You In A Porridge said...

I've had our cards (in hand) for 2 weeks no. Haha. As soon as we got Aiden's 1 year pictures back I ordered them immediately. Haha. And my family says the same thing about our next kid...I guess we are due for a crier since Aiden is so chill. Haha. Loving these pictures of you and your sweet girl!

I'm so glad that your doing better! Being a Mom sure does take an adjustment! I'm also glad to hear you found a great day care that is so close by! That is a blessing! Don't let the Mom guilt get the best of you, you will do great once you go back to work full time! Enjoy the rest of your time at home! In the meantime, keep on taking those bathroom selfies because they are great! Thanks for the info for Minted. I always wondered how that envelope addressing goes... :)

You two are adorable in those mirror pics! Going back to work sucks. I wish no one had to be a working mom. Someday I'll get to stay home full time, and that'll be the best thing ever. Until, I just pray an awful lot!

I know, right? Weirdo.

You are an exercising machine and I am in awe of your skills.

Those bathroom pictures with R are perfect.

I love your shirt and want it.

The working mom thing is hard. So hard. I'm lucky enough to get a year off, and I think moms that have to go back to work before then are superheroes. Working from home with R is even more impressive. If I were you I would wear a cape because you could get away with it. Even thinking about going back to work seven months from now is terrifying, and I've got a good friend that will be looking after Parker. I'm glad you found a place close to work and hope it's amazing.

You're doing great.
