Deep Thoughts-ish

7.06.2016

Hello hello! Just popping in to share one of my favorite pictures I've ever taken of R that I got on July 4th. I mean seriously. This bad boy is getting framed like yesterday. I even got her to wear a bow for 4.35 seconds! Winning. Kind of.

I had an absolutely fabulous weekend that was full of surprises and laughs and family time. Sometimes you just have to look around and think, Is this my life? And the answer is yes. Yes, it is. R is turning eleven months old this weekend, and I'm all kinds of emotional thinking about her turning one. Those newborn weeks were hard. So hard. But this girl makes me smile and laugh and she's just so darn fun, and every day she learns something new and is just the cutest ever.

I'm about three-quarters of the way finished with The Nightingale, which is a fiction novel set in WWII in occupied France, and it's making me feel so glad I live in a free country and so thankful for all those who sacrifice to keep it that way. America!

You could say I'm having a lot of deep thoughts lately.

I blame the Fourth of July and the fact that R is turning one next month and the fact that I'm turning thirty in four days. THIRTY.

I remember when I thought thirty sounded so old, but now I'm like, shoot, thirty isn't so bad! Except I feel like my metabolism is a ticking time bomb, so excuse me while I eat all the ice cream and cupcakes in the countdown to Sunday. Don't try and stop me.

I will be accepting birthday gifts in the form of cash or diapers. Size 3. For R, not me, although given my history I can see how you might be confused.

I cant believe she's nearing 1... I just can't.
Glad you are framing that pic - that smile needs to be seen every day on a table! :)

I'm turning 25 and that feels grown-up enough for me at this point. Hopefully I'll be even younger by the time I hit 30. :) This IS your life and it's totally awesome. You have the cutest little girl EVER.

Eleven months already?! Time flies!

Happy early birthday! I turn 29 this month and keep telling myself I have a looot of growing up to do in the next year because I've always had this certain thought of what 30 should look like and I'm nowhere near that haha

LOL at the diaper comment. Sometimes I pee a little when I sneeze now. Thanks, Gracie. Sorry for writing that on your blog, but I think you'll understand. Such a cute picture of R! Tell me your thoughts on the Nightingale.

That last paragraph--- LOL! Love it. I'm so glad you had a great weekend and that picture really is just perfect. Definitely a framer. Cheers to almost 30! Since Jared turned 30 before me it doesn't seem old at all now!

That photo really is fantastic. Those teeth!! So so cute she is.

I just finished Secrets of a Charmed Life and Code Name Verity (both fiction set during WWII) and I was feeling the feelings of gratitude as well. So thankful for freedom and all those who fought for it.

She is just SO DARN CUTE!! Love that pic, definitely frame-worthy.

30's are awesome! Except yea, that whole metabolism thing and my body basically turning on me. Whatever. 30's is about loving your body and not giving a damn. Hoorah!

I literally just started The Nightingale tonight and can't wait to get further into it (and to hear your thoughts on it at some point).

Also, I too am turning the big 3-0 this year (in September), but since my metabolism is basically already shot, it's like I'm hitting menopause or something. Anywho, I feel like we should do something really big and fabulous (since my husband and I are both turning 30 in the same week), but I'm the worst planner in the world sometimes when it comes to things like that. Maybe I should get on that...

I was JUST looking at The Nightingale on Amazon to download to my kindle. Should I do it? Worth the read?

The big O-N-E is hard! It represents so much!

And yes, this pic is for sure for sure a framer. Those toofers!

I think it would be normal to be emotional when your daughter turns one. I get emotional about my nephews and niece growing up and they aren't even my own kids.

Welcome to the 30 club! It isn't so bad. I just think it is mental. Also, I hear 20 year old and just think, "Was I like that? I don't even want to know!" ha ha!

Happy birthday! Thirty is great. I didn't have a huge existential crisis or anything, but it was sort of a hard day because my 20s were over, blah, blah, blah. I look back now and wonder what my problem was!

Lol to the diapers comment! ;) Happy Birthday! I adore the picture of R as well! Perfection! I can't believe she's almost a year! (I know that doesn't help matters any... but geesh, time flies!)
