Surprise 30th Birthday Celebration

7.13.2016

On July 2, my entire family drove up from Texas to surprise me for my birthday! Jordan schemed with my mom, and I was completely and utterly shocked. I thought Jordan, R, and I were heading out to eat downtown for an early birthday date. We parked and started walking toward a table in the back, and I was literally standing right in front of them before I saw everyone. It was so, so fun!
When we got back to the house, they sent me to my room to wait while they decorated and hung some streamers. There were cupcakes and ice cream and presents, and Jordan's parents came over too!
^^^ My sister made this for me. So fun!

My family had brought air mattresses and packed bags to stay overnight. The next morning, we all got up and went to the zoo! It was R's first time and the zoo, and she loved it. And by loved it, I mean she sat quietly in the stroller and then fell asleep as we were leaving.
For lunch my mom had brought my favorite entree from one of my favorite Italian restaurants, and she had made a delicious ice cream cake! Jordan and I have birthdays one week apart, so we blew out the candles together.
*Please ignore the giant trophy on our mantel. That is 100% Jordan's doing. He had a video game competition with his friends, and he won. And now we have that. There's also a Rock Band guitar and a Play Station remote up there. Mantel decorations. Nailed it.

I am so thankful for such a wonderful family, and it was so much fun having them celebrate my 30th birthday with me! You guys are my favorites. Below is the video my sister-in-law took of the surprise. I can't believe how close I got before I saw everyone!

If you can't see it below, watch it here.

p.s. Check out Jordan's surprise 30th birthday party!

Happy belated birthday! Looks like such a fun celebration. You had me LOLing over your mantle decorations - my husband and I have an ongoing argument about the fact that my bookshelves on either side of our fireplace are decorated with his Turtle Beach headphones and a giant flag football trophy. He says I don't get to make all the decorating decisions; I say those things would look BEAUTIFUL in the basement. Sigh.

The comments from all of them throughout the video are the best. "She doesn't see us. Nope. No. Not yet. Still nope."

Hahahahaahaha and here I thought I was the only adult household rocking a video game trophy from my husband. But nope. Now I know there are two of us.

That's such a great birthday surprise! If it makes you feel any better, I probably wouldn't have realized that it was my family until I was right on top of them too!

Aww! How sweet is that!! One of my biggest life goals is to get a surprise party someday...and that's a terrible life goal to have because it's literally impossible to achieve a surprise party for yourself. But I live in hope eternal!!!! :P
What a cool birthday time with all your surprise family staying over--this is definitely one for the record books!

I always feel like I'm oblivious when walking too. That's so funny you were right up on them & probably would have kept walking if your hubby didnt say, how about this way. Too funny
That's so sweet your family took time for you - what a great birthday gift.
& your mantel - I so laughed. Especially that there is a trophy for gaming. That's how you do life right :)

Aww yay for great families! So awesome they were able to pull that off for you! That 1986 facts poster is SO fun and such a good idea! MUST remember that for someday!

awww i love this so much! how awesome is your family, and that shirt is pretty fabulous too. love that thing your sister made, so nifty. and your mantel decorations put ours to shame.... as in, when we moved in, i decided i didn't like the mantel and took it off the wall and we were going to replace. KC was doing the floors so he was right underneath me when I took the mantel off the wall, it was MUCH lighter than I thought it would be and it swung out of my hands and seriously almost decapitated him. It was terrifying haha and we still haven't replaced it.
anyway. happy belated birthday :) hope this is the best year yet!

That's the best!!!! I love the part about you walking right up to them and not even realizing that it was them. :) The fact that they totally sent you to your room and brought everything to stay the night is hilarious. Your family is fantastic!
