Today, I'm Loving Monday

9.19.2016

>>>I'm closing down my reader survey in a few days, so if you haven't taken it yet, you can by clicking here.

In this current season of life, I have been taking extra joy in my weekends. I’ve really been focusing on making the most of Saturday and Sunday and not taking for granted the fact that I have two full days to spend with R.

If you’ve been around this blog for any length of time, you know that being a full-time working mom has not been easy for me. Some days I drop her off and go to work, and I’m okay. I miss her of course, but my day goes quickly and is filled with projects, and it’s not that bad. Other days I’m a mess with missing her, and I basically sad text Jordan all day about how all I want to do is go pick her up and kiss her chubby cheeks.

Mondays have started to become my favorite day of the work week.

A lot of people complain about Monday, but I’ve found that Monday is actually one of my better days. I feel refreshed from the weekend and excited about the possibilities of the new week. I have just spent my weekend with R and fill up on kisses and hugs and giggles. We play with puzzles and blocks and go on runs and play at the park, and I fill my R tank as high as it will go.

On Mondays, I feel full. As the work week goes on, my tank gets lower and lower. Usually by Thursday and Friday, I’m really struggling hard. I feel like I have barely seen her all week, and I’m low on snuggles and kisses from my girl.

I know that it’s not the same for everyone, of course. Depending on your job, your schedule, and your family’s needs, everyone gets full and depleted on different days. It’s good to recognize when you feel more full or empty so that you can properly recharge and also appreciate those days that allow you to step back and look around at all the things you have to be thankful for.

I also think it’s important to remember that when you’re feeling full, someone else might be feeling empty. Just like when you’re feeling empty, someone else feels full. I want to be intentional about spreading some of the love around so that I can be an encouragement to others and also allow others to be an encouragement to me. What I'm saying is, don't keep your fullness to yourself! Spread the love around, and let others fill you up too.

Today, I’m loving Monday.

I hope you feel inspired and refreshed to start off the new week with its hundreds of possibilities.

When do you feel the most full?

What’s one thing you are excited about this week?

What a great perspective on a Monday!! I usually like Mondays too, because the house is clean, the meals are planned, the laundry is done and ironed, everything is fresh and ready. Things start to fall apart a little by Thursday or so and then I'm ready for a weekend!!

I love this perspective and your attitude to make Monday good! I need to have this same perspective too. Today, I will embrace my Monday!

aw i love this! i'm glad you love mondays. i like mondays because i feel refreshed and i love love love clean slates, and a week is a fresh clean slate to me. i just dislike getting up and having to do things, i'd rather keep weekending. but that's the adult life i guess lol. i had a really blah week last week, the weekend was what i needed to reset and now i feel fabulous. i am looking forward to going home and eating dinner, because i am always excited about food.

Aww- this is a great outlook on Mondays! Honestly, my hardest day is usually Thursdays.
Maybe as R gets older you can plan mommy-daughter date nights on Wednesday to recharge that R-battery and get in some quality time halfway through the week!

I've never really thought about it, but now I'd have to say I agree. By the end of the week, I am exhausted and ready for a break and family time. Mondays aren't too bad because we just had a lot of time together and cleaned/organized the house!

This is the best perspectives to have about Mondays!!! I know I am going to be a mess when it comes time to go back to work and I am dreading it but it is what is going to work for our family. I plan to take full advantage of my weekends and nights and hope to feel full like you do!

I agree! Mondays always go the smoothest. I feel prepared, relaxed and the day isn't that bad. By Friday, man, I am tired.

such a good perspective. I go back and forth on Mondays. I'm a part-time working mom, I stay home on Mondays and Thursdays, so sometimes I'm ecstatic that I'm home with her, and then sometimes I'm like, please Lord, why is it not my day to work?? it's fairly/mostly dependent on my daughter's mood, which is probably not great, but it is what it is. my work Monday is Tuesday, and I know exactly what you mean...the whole week is ahead of you and the burnout hasn't arrived yet. except for this week...my husband is traveling ALL WEEK, so I am just excited for Friday haha.

This is great. I like your perspective. For me, there isn't a specific day of the week I usually feel the most full - I'm not fulfilled by or enjoying my job at all these days, so my best days are the ones where I either have the day off with my husband (rare, he's a cop so our days off rarely line up) or the whole evening off after I get home from work (less rare).

My favorite day of the week definitely tends to vary based on schedules, but I'm not opposed to any of them. I think the days I get most excited about lately are Wednesdays and Fridays--Wednesdays because my work schedule is lighter and Fridays because Angel's work schedule is lighter and we usually squeeze in an afternoon date. I like Saturday and Sunday too, but Weekends are pretty heavy for us, so it's important to have a bit of time to relax and catch up during the week! Mondays have never been a bad thing in my book (because I normally like what I do, and even when I was in beauty school and hated it--monday was my day off! haha!)

I'm going to be totally unoriginal and say my favorite day is Friday. When Phillip comes home I want to yell out the windows in the general direction of his workplace, "You don't get him until Monday now!!" Now that the kids have what feels like at least 1 or 2 dozen soccer games every Saturday the weekends are busier than we'd like, but at least we're all theoretically together.

I don't have a favorite day but I do feel the best when I can be at home and be still.

What if on Thursday and Friday when you feel you are running low you work on mediating on a Bible passage or memorizing a few verses. That might strengthen you and help you feel full in a spiritual sense. =)

This is such a good perspective! I think that because Chris' schedule changes so often, the days I feel the most full change. Sometimes a Monday lands right after a weekend together, and I feel full and refreshed, but then sometimes it comes on a week where I haven't seen him in forever and I feel drained. So I guess I feel the full after time with my little family!

I really enjoy Mondays for much of the same reasons. It feels like a fresh start, and my "tank is full" as well. Not so much with family love (although yea, that too) but mostly with energy and a feeling of starting fresh.
