My 1st Stitch Fix Box!

12.13.2017

Heyyyyyy. Guess what? I got a Stitch Fix box! Yes, I am now the ultimate blogger cliche except that I wasn't holding a Starbucks drink, which would have really put me over the edge. I've secretly wanted to try SF forever, and for the strangest reason I always love seeing other bloggers post pictures of the clothes they got in their boxes. It's really so odd to me that I like it so much, since I'm not that much of a fashion person. Anyway, I used a referral code that waived the styling fee, so it was free to try my first box and I figured this was my chance! Use my code and get one for free also. (Click here.)

In case you don't know what Stitch Fix is, long story short, it's a box of clothes delivered to your house. You choose what you want to keep (and pay for, of course) and send the rest back in the prepaid envelope. Usually there is a $25 "styling fee" you pay to get the box, but again, the fee was waived this time so it was free.

I was pretty skeptical about what clothes they would send me, but actually I really loved all the items in my box! So that was fun but also kind of sucked because they weren't cheap. Ouch. But, as I've mentioned a few times before, I am trying to overhaul my wardrobe right now and trying to find quality items I love and feel good in post baby #2, so I did keep one thing from this box. Let's check it out and you can tell me what you think.

1. Toms Jutti Suede Flat (wearing in all photos below)
These were adorable, but they were going back no matter how much I loved them because $$$. Thankfully, they were also a half size too large (they were a 9, and I needed an 8.5), so I can't feel too bad about it.

2. Liverpool Kay 4-Way Stretch Skinny Jean (wearing in all photos below)
I've heard of people getting pants in their Stitch Fix boxes and fitting perfectly, and I didn't believe it, but I am here to tell you it's true. These fit amazingly and were so cute. And I returned them. I am already regretting it as I type, but I just wasn't in the mood to spend a ton of money on a pair of pants. Maybe next time. Hashtag I'm cheap.

3. 41 Hawthorn Dark Green Blouse
I did like this blouse, but the material was strange (too thick), and I wasn't sure if I loved the open design on down both arms. Also the sleeve length felt awkward. Are you full-length? Three-quarter? Half? No one knows.

4. RD Style Light Grey Cardigan
I loved this immediately. When I showed it to Jordan, he said, "That looks like something you would wear." YES. I loved the long sleeves and how long it is in the back. I do wear leggings as pants (no shame, my friends) but only if my shirt covers my butt <-- very important. I have a similar type of cardigan in a darker color that I wear throughout the winter. I kept it and am wearing it right now and it's perfect. No regrets.

5. Renee C Purple Blouse
Gah. This one. I debated forever and almost kept it. It was comfortable and purple is a good color on me. Also this type of shirt is the perfect kind of dressy/casual for work in the fall and early spring. I realized that I really need a long-sleeved blouse in my life. I don't have one! However, my mom always asks me when I'm debating about clothes: "Do you LOVE it?" And while I did like it a lot, for the price I wasn't completely in love, and I feel like I can find something similar at the outlet mall or somewhere like ThredUp. I am going to keep an eye out!

Getting a Stitch Fix was actually really fun. What was not fun was not being able to keep everything because my money tree out back died a few years ago and I have had many unsuccessful revival attempts.

But I am super happy with my cardigan and think maybe I'll do it again sometime! Just not every month or even every other month (how do people do it??????). But a few times a year perhaps! Again, use my referral code to get your first box for free.

What did you think of my choices? What would you have kept?

Love that sweater. I'd definitely keep it too. Next time put the prices :) I'm always curious as to how much things cost because I'm like you and #cheap hahah

I am cheap also with clothes so I am curious how much this stuff was? I would like to try it but if it's out of the price range I would even consider buying then I won't try it. That cardigan looks fantastic on you, I do love that item!!

I keep thinking about trying this, but then don't. Love the gray sweater.

I have the exact same leggings rule :) i've done SF a few times, and while I usually LOVE what they send me, I end up picking ONE thing, so I can use the styling fee $$, and sending the rest back b/c, yo, I don't buy $60 blouses...

Thanks for trying Stitch Fix! I like seeing them too even though I am not a fashion person either, haha.
You *should* be full of regret about those jeans! Jeans are the only thing I spend money on, because I wear them every day, and quality jeans are worth it. (And I buy them when they are BOGO, so sort of $$ instead of $$$.) Once you find a pair of jeans you love you should never let them go.

I've gotten Stitch Fix a few times (over the past like 2 years) and have never loved or even liked every item in any box. And I got a pair of jeans once and they were not at all the right fit, so maybe I need to try again? I really like the shoes you're wearing - they look super cute, but totally understand returning for the price - especially with flats I can't get on board with paying much because there's not much to them!

I had thought about trying this a few times just to see what a stylist would pick for me. But I am so weird about fit of clothes, and I am the type of person who rarely shops online for clothing items because I have to try every single thing on before I purchase it. With that being said, I am shocked they sent you a pair of pants that fit so well. Those look great on you! And I love the sweater you decided to keep. That purple top looks like something you could find at the Loft Outlet for around $30.

I'm just like you with clothes! I can love a piece but if I don't love the price tag then I won't buy it. That cardigan looks so comfy!

I got the grey sweater in my Stitch Fix box in July, when I requested a box for our newborn photoshoot. I was SO close to keeping it, but it was JULY and I was sweating just thinking about it, so it went back. It was so so wonderful though. Great choice! And yes, their jeans always amaze me. Liverpool is a great brand.

I only do boxes on special occasions when I need something specific and don't have the patience to shop (which, okay, is all the time). I see it as a treat rather than a monthly thing, which I don't know how some people do!

I’m so glad you liked everything! The cardigan is soooo cute and you’ll get so much wear out of it. I think you should request the jeans in your next box. I mean, you can’t stop thinking about them. I get a box once a quarter, which is fun.

I love that you tried it and didn't buy everything in the box- when people do that I'm like what the whaaaa?? I have a grey sweater that is similar to the one you got and I love it and wear it all the time so good purchase! Also you mentioned thread up- I've been wanting to try that but don't have any ideas on how to actually successfully purchase clothes online :/ any tips?

I am really loving that cardigan! It's the perfect piece for any occasion.

I love that cardigan! I got a cardigan from Stitch Fix last year and it's one of my favorites. I've never reviewed my box on my blog but I have done it a few times. I usually only keep one thins becuse it's all so expensive, but I love getting the clothes in the mail because I hate clothes shopping! Also ThredUp is the best! I've gotten so much great stuff from them.

Yup. Totally made the right choice. Also, I love Stitch Fix blog posts too...and I also have no idea why because I'm not fashion-y.

I absolutely love that sweater! I would have kept it, too. I'm thinking about trying Stitch Fix this next year. I wear a uniform all day, so I own a lot of workout gear, some dressy evening things, some working around the house things, but not a lot else! Need to fill in the gaps there so I don't look like I'm still dressing like a college student :p

Love the cardigan and I'm having trouble finding a good quality, longer cardigan. The one that I have that I love came from SF. Also, those pants look great on you... I think I would've kept them!

It surprises even me, but I don’t follow many blogs, not even SAHM blogs. Now I’m wondering what the selections would be for my non-office lifestyle. I am in desperate need of some church clothes. Maybe that’s my foot in the door.
And jeans. Omg. My favorite pair right now is only my favorite by default because they don’t fit great and I’ve worn holes in the knees. I should stop buying $19 jeans maybe.

I do love the purple blouse--I also tend to have a deficit of "nice" shirts--I have awesome t-shirts, and I have awesome dresses, but nice shirts to wear with pants or skirts for a more dress-up event are not really a thing in my closet. Which is possibly why I wear dresses much of the time.

AnneMarie said...

Oooh, it's so exciting that you did SF! It feels like such a "blogger thing" to do. That purple blouse looks totally awesome, I think that's my favorite piece out of this bunch. I also would be interested to know what kinds of prices they charge, because I am also very cheap (thrift store and hand-me-down girl over here!). And I really wonder at bloggers who routinely, like once a month or every couple months, write up large SF posts. Even if they are receiving some compensation for their posts, it seems kind of unreal to me. Also, because that seems like a lot of clothes to be adding to one's wardrobe regularly if you keep more than one or two items per box and you do this each month!

Jeans! the jeans looked adorable. When I find jeans that fit & I like, I buy them. It's not often that jeans fit my body. Too bad the purple top was so $$$... I love anything purple. I've not tried SF, but was under the impression that you could set a price range for your clothing options. I think I would give it a try for finding a special occasion outfit.

I like the clothes! They are really cute. I like the cardigan a lot too. Good choice to keep it.

I'm 100% with your Mom's advice to only keep clothes if you love them. Dave taught me that and it's helped my wardrobe immensely. I don't buy lots of clothes but my motto has been quality over quantity. I don't feel bad dropping some money for a piece that fits well, is comfortable and that I love and will wear a lot. I'd rather buy one expensive piece than 5 other pieces that I go through quickly.

I haven't tried Stitch Fix either but everyone seems to love it. Glad you got to try it out.

I am so with you on wearing leggings as pants when I have a tunic top or long cardigan on. In fact that's pretty much all I have worn lately. :) Cute cardigan! Glad at least one item was a for sure keeper!

I used your referral link to order a Stitch Fix box. They did a good job of nailing down my style. I completely agree about the stick shock! I am keeping two of the tops because they're really cute and my luggage was stole, so I have to replace some clothing anyway. I was disappointed with one item that was definitely not of good enough quality to warrant the price. Other than that I was pretty pleased with what they sent. I hope you enjoy the discount on a future Fix!

Thank you! I'm glad there were a few things you liked. I'm sorry your luggage was stolen! That is not very nice. I do think the prices are a bit high for me, but for an occasional box it's fun :) I've already worn the cardigan I got in this box so much that it's been worth it!

I just got my first Fix (also like 5 years late to the party...) and I'm not happy with it at all - 2 things were not my style at all, 2 things were meh, and one pair of jeans I actually REALLY liked but they're 33" when I specifically asked for ankle length. I feel like my stylist didn't listen to me at all. I was dumb and didn't use a code the first time so I just used yours (at least I think/hope it worked?) to try again. I LOVE the cardigan you kept and while I agree with your points about everything else, the overall aesthetic was more like what I was hoping for in mine. Here's hoping your code is somehow good juju and I get matched up with someone better this time ;)

I was literally about to do this today! I'll use your code. Love that grey sweater!
