// dreaming

I've been dreaming about work a lot lately. Probably because I was all stressed out about my business trip and the meetings I had to plan. Hopefully now that my tip is over the madness will stop. Who likes dreaming about work? Answer: nobody.

// planning

This month I have two weekend trips! One to Dallas to visit the family and one to Chicago for girls' weekend! One of my best friends is turning 30, and we're going to get together and celebrate! I'm super excited because my friend made reservations at RPM Italian, which is a restaurant owned by Bill and Giuliana Rancic. I need to find a cute dress to wear!

In other unrelated news, Jordan and I are planning on attending a marriage conference at our church this weekend! I'm really excited about it. I've never been to anything like this before. Jordan is not as into the idea as I am, but I convinced him it would send the wrong message if I went by myself. This coming Friday night and Saturday morning we'll be learning how to grow in our marriage more. If I learn anything good, maybe I'll share it all in a blog post soon!

// making

We've officially started the house hunt and are making plans for the day we can move out of this apartment! We have a Realtor and everything, and I'm excited to finally make some steps forward with this whole business.

// baking

I haven't been baking a whole lot lately, although there are a lot of amazing desserts pinned on my various dessert boards. I categorized all of them by type, so there are pies, cakes, bars, etc. They all look so good, but I've really been craving an apple pie. I bought some Granny Smith apples at the store a few days ago, so that will hopefully be happening soon. The last time I tried to make an apple pie it was mushy, so I have to up my game this time.

// watching

Right now as I type this I'm watching the end of Catching Fire. Those movies are gooood. I haven't seen the third one yet, mostly because Jordan and I just never get around to watching movies. But now I definitely need to.

Jordan and I also recently started over on Parks & Rec. A lot of people think it's a weird show, but just give it a few episodes and I think you'll start to understand the humor and think it's really funny.

What are you planning these days? I'd love to know!

Linking up with Jenna and Anne!

We are thinking of starting over from the beginning of Parks & Rec before we watch the finale season so it is all encapsulated nicely.

We haven't watched the third Hunger Games movie either. Can't wait, though. Loving Jennifer Lawrence (although, I like her a little bit less now that I've learned that she would play the main role in the next Spielberg movie... slightly jealous, I must say).

Sounds like you have a great month ahead of you! Two weekend trips? Yay! Search for a house? Double-yay!

Allison said...

I had never heard about Parks & Rec until this season because it seems like everybody and their moms are now obsessed, haha. When I (finally!) get Netflix, I think that a Parks & Rec binge watch is definitely going to happen. Also, yay on house progress! That's so exciting & I hope that everything goes smoothly for you!

Yay for house hunting!! Seriously, I LOVE looking for houses (and apartments!) Sometimes, I feel I should have been a realtor. Weird thing to note: I love looking, but stress about actually buying, signing, and moving, haha. But if you want someone to just look at floor plans and imagine possibilities? I'm your girl.

Can't wait to see where this new adventure takes you!

Also, Parks & Rec forever!

And now I'm in the mood to defrost some apple pie filling so I can make a pie! Apple pie mushiness can be affected by the type of apples you use! Certain varieties bake better than others.

Congratulations on starting the house hunt!! We're about a year out from that and I daydream about it all the time. So excited for you!

Hoooray for house hunting!! Enjoy the process! :) We loved it and cannot wait to do it again- actually haha! The 3rd HG movie was a bit of a disappointment for me; I felt they could have just made it one movie, but instead this one dragged on and on and not that much happened. Hopefully the final one will be AWESOME!

your weekend trips sound fun!

good luck on the house hunt!!

I wanted to love Parks and Rec - mostly because the actor that plays Ron Swanson is from Plainfield IL but couldn't get into it. The characters just become tropes after a few episodes, which is the same thing that killed Modern Family for me. Good luck on your house hunt!!

I *think* my problem with the mushiness was that I sliced the apples too thin. It was really sad. Still tasted good but not as apple crunchy, you know? What type of apples do you use in your pies?

Chicago sounds like so much fun!!! I'm glad you will get some good Italian.

Amanda! I'm cracking up that you told Jordan it would look bad if you went alone! BUT I'd tell Dave the exact same thing! Is it just a marriage conference hosted by your church or is there an outside group putting it on?

Parks & Rec! I still can't get into that show. Dave likes it and I've tried but it's just not my thing.

The Lady Okie said...

That's a great idea! We haven't seen the final season either, so that's probably what we'll end up doing too.

The Lady Okie said...

It is actually at another church and hosted by an outside group. My brother went to the conference when it was in Dallas and said it was really good! I'm looking forward to it.

House hunting! Eek! That's so exciting.

Such an exciting time! House hunting, trips, oh my!

Next weekend the hubster and I are going to the "big city" for a night away to celebrate our anniversary. Then my parents are flying up for Easter, and I just booked a ticket to fly to St. Louis for my brother's surprise 50th birthday party the first weekend in May. I am so looking forward to spring!

Dreaming of work must not be fun--you have to do enough work when you are awake! Hope the apple pie turns out well. My sister is a pro at baking; her apple pies are scrumptious, and sometimes neighbors even order them.

I was just invited to a marriage conference a couple weeks ago, which I thought was strange since I am single, but I noticed a lot of other singles were invited as well...makes a person a bit suspicious! I already had something planned for that day, so I'm not going to be finding out how it goes. Hope your conference goes well.

LOVE Parks & Rec! We are almost done with Season 6, and I am so hesitant to start Season 7... I just don't want it to end! Amy Poehler is my spirit animal, I'm pretty sure...

So glad you survived the business trip! That baked asparagus looks yummy. It's one of our favorites, with some lemon slices, olive oil, mushrooms, and whole garlic cloves. I'm the weird one about marriage conferences in my house. I don't know why I don't like them. I don't care for most women's conferences either. Maybe because I'm an introvert around strangers? IDK. Still, when I make myself go to them, I usually love them. You'd think I'd learn....Congrats on the house hunting! It's a fun ride, so enjoy it (and don't settle!!).

Yes, we are loving Parks & Rec! The humor is right up our alley - and I think Amy Poehler is the most funny and smart and talented lady. Exciting that you've got house stuff going... big on my list this month too, both selling and buying. Eek. Also, now I want some roasted asparagus... I always hated asparagus until I discovered the concept of roasting veggies (duh), and it is sooo good.

Woohoo for house hunting! That's so exciting, good luck!!

We've been to lots of marriage conferences and we've enjoyed every one of them. We rarely learn anything particularly surprisingly new, but we love the reminder to stop and spend a day thinking about ways to make our marriage even better. :)

Chicago and Dallas are both such fun cities! I hope you have a blast in both. :)

My brother actually went to the conference that I'm going to when the group was in Dallas. He's currently single, but he said a lot of single people were there actually. He really enjoyed it! I would have never thought of going to a marriage conference while single, but I guess there's always something to learn. I need your sister to help me with my pie! I decided I am going to make one today. Just need to figure out the trick to non mushiness! I have made really good apple pies in the past, but the last few have been not awesome so I need to figure out what I'm doing wrong.

Ohh I always wanted to eat at RPM. I grew up in the south suburbs of Chicago and recently moved away. I'd still like to make it happen on one of our visits this year!

Caroline @ In Due Time said...

So awesome! What marriage material is the conference over or is it something internal within your church? We too are going to a conference this weekend!!! Excited to hear how it goes as it can definitely only be beneficial :)

So excited for the house hunt - good luck with that!!!!! And, have fun on both of your trips! Gotta love a girls weekend!

I started watching Parks & Rec for the first time on NYE, and I caught up just in time for the finale. I was so sad about that, but the way they ended it was just perfect! Now I want apple pie too... (:

Ooh have fun on your girls weekend in Chicago, that sounds like so much fun! I hope the marriage conference goes well too! I've never been to anything like that before, but I also just signed my husband and I up for a marriage seminar at our church (which I was more excited for than he was, of course). Let us know how it goes!

Re-watching Parks & Rec is my favorite!
It gets better every time.

And we attended a marriage conference last month. Josh was not a fan at first but after we attended I think he loved it even more than me! Hoping it's great! :)

I think the marriage conference is a great idea. It's never a bad idea to work on relationships. Happy house hunting!

You have some great trips coming up! Enjoy the marriage conference - I'm glad Jordan decided to go with you. Awkward to be at one alone.... ;-)

House hunting!! How exciting. I can't wait to hear about what you find and I hope it's a dream first house!

Yay! Enjoy Chicago! I was just there last weekend for my best friend's birthday! So much to do there, but I highly recommend Molly's Cupcakes! Best of luck with the house hunting!

Best of luck on your house hunt!! What an exciting step! I love Chicago, you guys will have a blast. Better find a warm dress though :)

We've always said we want to go to a marriage conference, that we think it'll be fun...but so far there's never been one close to us on a weekend that Angel wasn't working (and I didn't want to go by myself. Awkward Rachel.).
I like Parks & Rec, primarily because of April, and Andy. They're my favorite. Leslie is most emphatically not my favorite.

Ohhh, that restaurant sounds really fun! I love italian food. Hopefully there will be an instagram of your visit AND your fancy outfit. :) I also can't waitttt to see/hear about your house search adventures! So excited for y'all!
