Death By Chocolate

2.04.2013

Ingredients: 4
Cooking time: 10 minutes
Prep time: 10 minutes
Serves: As many as you want

Let me first warn you:
This is not a recipe for anyone on a diet.
This is not a recipe for the faint of heart.

Just talking about the recipe adds 5 pounds, but it is the best dessert ever. EVER.
And it only needs four ingredients, so it's super easy to make.

Anyone still with me? You won't be sorry.
Let's begin. For this dessert, you will need:

1. One package of Oreos
I don't get double stuffed, because let's face it: I'm already doing enough damage with regular Oreos. But you could get double stuffed if you're hardcore or really just have a death wish.
Notice how I strategically tilted the Oreos so you wouldn't be able to tell that I already ate a few earlier. But you didn't hear me say that.

2. One stick of butter
One whole stick. Yum! Butter!

3. One can of sweetened condensed milk
I get the Walmart brand cuz I'm cheap.

And...
4. One bag of mini chocolate chips
Yes, you will use the entire bag. Make sure to get mini, not regular sized!

Straight from the shopping list of champions.
Have you gotten a heart attack yet?

Here's how to make it:
First, melt the stick of butter in the microwave.
While that's going on, mash up the Oreos in a large bowl.
Then, combine the butter and Oreos and spread onto the bottom of a pan so it forms a buttery Oreo crust. You can use a 9x13 or 9x11 or 8x8 or whatever size you have handy. This time I used an 8x8 brownie pan.

Melt the can of sweetened condensed milk and 1 cup chocolate chips in the microwave.
Note: one time I forgot and tried to melt the entire bag of chocolate chips. It didn't turn out too well, so just remember to use just ONE cup.

Mix and melt until it looks like this:
This should take approximately 1 minute, 15 seconds.

Take your melted chocolate syrup and pour it over the Oreo crust. Top with the rest of the chocolate chips.
Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes. Remove from the oven when the edges are slightly pulling away from the sides of the pan and bubbles have started to form on the top. (Note: The chocolate chips will not completely melt, and that's fine.)

Wait 5-10 minutes until pan begins to cool and then place in the fridge to cool until you're ready to eat! The fridge just helps the bars set up nice. What you will have is a hard chocolate top, delicious Oreo crust, and gooey chocolate middle. Unfortunately, I am not a food photographer, so I couldn't get a picture that didn't make this look like a turd on a plate. But trust me. It's so good it will change your life.

Just don't say I didn't warn you.

I'd say this might be the single, most valuable thing you learned in college! And I will speak as a consumer of these gooey chocolate treats that they are DELICIOUS (for any of you who can't tell from the list of ingredients and the pictures).

Couldn't get a picture where it didn't look like turd.. hahahahahahaha! I was sold by the title of the dessert alone. And then I saw oreos were one of the four ingredients, sold, sold, sold! Making these asap - my husband will seriously love them! SO glad you shared this recipe with us for Taste of Tuesday! :)
