Week one of marathon training is complete, and so far so good! I did my Saturday run with a training group that meets every Saturday morning and trains specifically for the OKC Memorial Marathon in April. There were a lot of people out at 7:00 am this morning, bright and early, to run 6 miles.
For my first marathon, I'm using a hybrid of a few different plans, but mostly I'm using this one from the running group.
My goal is to finish the marathon in under 4:30, which is about 10-minute per mile pace. I also just recently signed up for the Fort Worth half marathon on February 24, which is perfectly timed for the 13-mile training run in week 8.
I hope to post a training update every week, and in 17 weeks I will be updating you on my first marathon!
