Traveled

I went to Tulsa to visit a friend on March 14-15.
We made a raspberry, blueberry & apple pie on pie day. 3.14, yo.

I went to Texas to help host a bridal shower on March 22.
It was my third time being in charge of bridal shower games.

I made everyone do crossword puzzles while I read them a story.
No big deal.

Dates

Bowling at Red Pin to celebrate a friend's birthday.
Cross that off the old OKC bucket list.

I'm not going to say who won, but it wasn't Jordan.

Also, take a long look at that beard, because as of March 23, the beard is dead.
The mustache, however, is alive and well.

*New category!*
3 Things That Happened in March Last Year

-Ran 20 miles for the first time!
-We both got sick at the same time, and I got dramatic about it
-Went to the lake with the family, and we had a BB gun shooting competition

Notable Events

1) I cooked a rutabaga (not pictured) and a shallot (pictured)!
First I had to Google "what is a rutabaga" and "what is a shallot."

2) I crossed something off my bucket list and used my bundt pan!
I made Pioneer Woman's banana bread, and it was gooood.
We were sad when it was gone.

3) On March 10, Beka drove into the city to meet me for lunch.
Blogging friends becoming real life friends.
And... we forgot to take a picture. Blogger fail.

4) I went back to S&B's Burger Joint and got the peanut butter burger.
You all said I should, so I'm calling this blogger research.
It was delicious, as expected. Peanut butter rules all.

And... I just realized all these notable events involved food.
This is the reason I run, people, or I'd be 837 pounds.

So long, March.

So I saw the first pic in the bloglovin' feed and I thought for sure it was telling us you were pregnant! LOL! Perfect April Fool's that was never intended!

Bye Bye beard! I love me some banan-er bread! :) The first time you ran 20 miles this year? Good decision on the peanut butter burger!

Jenny Fish said...

Haha... I also googled "what is a shallot" this month. I think I know what it is now, but my grocery store didn't carry any so I'm still a little confused. Sounds like you had a great March!

I love this!!! So awesome to capture everything in one month..and that beard? OMG. My husband would die if he saw that. He's a sucker for a good mustache, too. I love that 90% of this post was about food :)

I'm so in love with this idea! I enjoy reading every month's post, but this one is especially good. I giggled, laughed, and even read it a second time. :) Blogger win!

PS, I need that banana bread in my mouth right now.

Love these pictures and the month-by-month update! I have some very adorable mini Bundt pans that I've never used...that should form the base of an April to do list, I think.

Whoa! That beard is a growin!

Peanut butter burger?? My brain can't wrap itself around how that would be good but my tastebuds say WANT!

Looks like it was such a great month! I don't think I've ever had rutabaga, was it good?

Hi! My name is Heather and I've been following your blog for about a month now. I don't remember how I came across it initially but the first post I read was when you did the February review and I loved the idea (and your pictures)! Very cool way to document the year! I enjoy reading all your posts, especially ones having to do with your running. I am a newbie runner so any tips I can pick up from more experienced runners I try to take to heart. Anyway, I just wanted to "introduce" myself because after a month of reading your blogs without ever commenting, I felt like a stalker. :-/ So....Hi!

Speaking of weighing 837 pounds, did you hear about that lady who is purposely eating like 15,000 calories a day because she wants to weigh 800 pounds so she can officially be the fattest woman in the world? This is a real thing.

Also, so glad you discovered shallots! They are my absolute favorite type of onion. So sweet and delicious! Try adding them to a blue cheese cream sauce poured over steak. YUM. (I may need to start running more.)

I just read of this idea & LOVVEEEEEEEEEEEEE it! Now to do a picture - a day late. Appropriate for me & my hubs.

You liked In The Garden of Beasts!! I thought you would. Really fascinating to me how many times Hitler could have been STOPPED before it got out of control.

The peanut butter burger has me very intrigued. I had a peanut butter pulled pork sandwich recently and it was delish. Proving your point that peanut butter rules all.

So, it's basically a tiny onion. but it's sweeter and can turn bitter if you overcook it. you're supposed to use it when making foods that require butter or oil. when you open it, it's like a garlic clove with little bulbs. so weird how many different types of food there are!

The Lady Okie said...

That's the BEST kind of compliment! Thanks so much, Jenna :)

That is insanely ridiculous. I don't even know.

You two are soooo cute.
I love these monthly updates so so so so much.
the last year category rocks too.

I miss Tulsa. a lot.

Rachel said...

See, I'm the kind of person who would read "shallot" and auto-translate to "whatever kind of onion I happen to have on hand at the moment". :P Sounds like a pretty sweet March to me!

SO I think we should start some sort of Oklahoma blogging meet up of sorts. Of course, I only know two Oklahoma bloggers I think, but I'm sure there's a least a handful who would be willing to do a meet up! Perhaps one day we could even convince the pioneer woman to come!

J is for Jessica said...

haha, I do the same thing!

I bought a shallot at the grocery store last week, and the bag boy asked me if something that small could really make a difference. Jury's still out on that one, but the recipe called for one, so I bought it. I've never tried a rutabaga though!

Heather! Hello and THANKS for the comment :) So glad you said hello. I'm so excited for your running! I hope you will come to love it as much as I do.
