It's Not Weird. It's Awesome: Documenting My 27th Birthday

7.13.2013

The fact that I took pictures all day long to document my 27th birthday should not surprise you even a little bit. This is how much I love birthdays. I also change my voicemail every single year to let callers know that it's my birthday and that I'm not answering their call because I'm currently doing something awesome and birthday related.

It's not weird. It's awesome.

I am often told by my friends that they don't know anyone who gets into their birthday quite like I do. The deep, dark reason for the fact that I love birthdays, specifically my own, is unknown. A psychologist might blame it on the fact that my dad used to embarrass us kids by telling everyone we saw that it was our birthday. The waitress, the cashier, the neighbor.... everyone. Instead of having that experience cripple me for life, I thrived off it and shall embarrass my future children in the same manner. I'm going to be SUCH a cool mom.

I think maybe too it was because I am the oldest of four children. Oldest children are classified as being Type A, independent, and loud (I might have made that last one up). I am all of these things. And on my birthday, just once a year, I am allowed to be these things. Growing up, my birthday was the one day where I got what I wanted all day long. The front seat? Mine. TV remote? Mine. Radio music? Mine. Dinner? My choice. On my birthday, I feel awesome and special all day, and who doesn't love that?

It's not weird. It's awesome.

That's why I love birthdays. And why I took pictures all day long, so I could remember what I did the day I turned 27. I don't expect everyone to understand, but I also don't care. I mean really. What kind of birthday-obsessed blogger would I be if I didn't take pictures and then blog about it?

Not a very good one.
This is the face Jordan gives me when I take pictures of him making his lunch at six in the morning.

I will never be too old to eat marshmallows in my cereal.

My mom drove up from Dallas to make me dinner! I win at life.

This is what you do when you don't have any candles besides the ones from last year.

Happy freaking birthday to me.

It's not weird.
It's just awesome.

Looks like you had a fantastic birthday!

Mine is on Christmas Eve, so I rarely got to see any of my friends for my birthday. We were always at a boring family Christmas party. So I basically start celebrating on December 1. And I make sure everyone knows when my birthday is! :P

Birthdays are a big deal!

Maybe it is a July birthday thing because I am obsessed with mine as well and tell everyone about it! If I could I would probably wear a sash or something just so everyone that saw me would know!
